Wingerworth Parish Council

Tidier village

WINGERWORTH Village Litter Pick took place on Saturday, 23rd March. There was a

fantastic turnout and volunteers collected more than 20 bags of litter on the day. Thank you

to Mike Sims for organising the event and for everyone who supported the event on the day.

Community Engagement Group

OLLOWING on from its inaugural meeting, the "CE

Group" has set some targets for the coming year, the first

being to complete an up-to-date listing of all the groups,

associations and clubs that are currently run in Wingerworth.

Additionally, we propose to invite representatives from these

organisations to a meeting where we can discuss how we may all

hopefully work together, establish a joint programme of

forthcoming events and discuss additional ideas for the future.

If you are part of a local group and have not been contacted by a

member of the Community Engagement Group, and would like to

participate in future events, please contact the parish council clerk.

One resident has already approached us with a proposal. They are

a keen photographer and would like to share their passion with

others. The resident will be on our stand at the Family Fun day in

May. Please come along and have a chat.

If you have further ideas for community engagement topics that

you would like to share, we would love to here from you. Contact

the clerk for further information, or pop along to the Fun Day.

Derbyshire County Council

Community Managed Libraries

ONE of the projects the group will be undertaking, with the

support of residents, is managing a Community Library

Service in Wingerworth. The Parish Council has always

stated that it would do its utmost to retain some form of library in

the village.

At Derbyshire County Council’s consultation event on Wednesday,

13th March, a number of residents expressed an interest in

volunteering, and we are liaising with DCC to contact all interested

parties. Any further residents who would also like to be involved,

please contact our clerk, or visit us on our stand at the May Family

Fun Day for further information.
