Another CCE premiere for the “Bolt On<br />
and Ride” bikes: With the introduction of<br />
the “Milwaukee Eight” motor into an all<br />
new rolling chassis that united the Dyna<br />
and Softail model lines into one common<br />
frame and suspension system, Harley-Davidson<br />
surprised the world wide<br />
custom scene in September 2017. While<br />
retaining the traditional model designations<br />
and names, few if any parts of<br />
the previous “Twin Cam” powered motorcycles<br />
would fit the <strong>2018</strong>-up Softails,<br />
creating new challenges as well as new<br />
opportunities! This was asking for an<br />
experienced customizer, playing in the<br />
“first league” of the German custom<br />
scene. Rick’s Motorcycles in Baden-Baden,<br />
long time CCE partner, is the first to<br />
create a “Bolt On and Ride” bike from the<br />
new Softail models – and the Rick’s team<br />
did so with its extreme skills and focus<br />
on detailing. From a <strong>2018</strong> FXBR “Breakout”,<br />
Rick’s has created a stunning custom<br />
“Lowrider” with excellent ridability<br />
that out-performes many “stock” Harley-<br />
Davidson models.<br />
If you look at this bike, there is no neccessity<br />
to introduce the name Rick‘s Motorcycle: This is<br />
a typical Rick‘s custombike, visible from its shape,<br />
lines and quality of the manufacturing. Rick‘s<br />
has become a „trademark“ for high class custombikes<br />
for more than two decades – and the radical<br />
look of a Rick‘s custom is never compromizing<br />
the ridability. „<strong>Moccarica</strong>“ is no exception<br />
from this rule! As a matter of fact, this bike was<br />
ridden extensively before it was photographed<br />
first in Czech Republic, then near Grolsheim,<br />
followed by immediate departure to the French<br />
Alps, where it again had to perform on some<br />
tough pass roads like the Col du Galibier. It is<br />
a „Bolt On“ job, performed by the Rick‘s team<br />
at the legendary Baden-Baden workshop, but it<br />
looks like much more!<br />

You don‘t have to see Patrick Knoerzer aka<br />
„Rick“ riding the turns on his most extreme custom<br />
creations to know his passion for ridable<br />
Harley-Davidsons – a few meters on any Rick‘s<br />
customized motorcycle will show you the difference<br />
some of the Rick‘s details can make. As<br />
many customizers, Rick‘s had to adapt his parts<br />
program to the new „Milwaukee Eight“ models,<br />
introduced for the <strong>2018</strong> model year. All Rick‘s<br />
parts are CAD-developed, but this change was<br />
more than just a „push on the button“: The radical<br />
different approach of Harley-Davidson with<br />
the merger of „Softail“ and „Dyna“ type frames to<br />
one completely different set-up did ask for some<br />
extra work. While most of Rick‘s motor-compo-

the character of the „Breakout“ even in „Bolt On“ mode. For Rick‘s standards, this is a „moderate“ customized<br />
version, no stretch of the tank performed.<br />

when the M8 was introduced, the completely<br />
new rolling chassis and especially the swing arm<br />
asked for a complete re-design of some Rick‘s<br />
components, too.<br />

Having the benefit of also running Harley-Davidson<br />
Baden-Baden, the Rick‘s team had an early<br />
start onto the <strong>2018</strong> model year bike – and had<br />
the first custom-bikes ready only days after the<br />
arrival of the first new models. Obviously, Rick‘s<br />
Motorcycles was the perfect choice to build Custom<br />
Chrome Europes first-ever „Milwaukee<br />
Eight“ Softail! „We knew that we needed to introduce<br />
the new Milwaukee Eight parts as soon as<br />
possible, as the first model year turned out to be<br />
very successful already“, states CCE Managing<br />
Director Andreas Scholz, „and our manufacturers<br />
underlined that, too: Currently, new M8 parts are<br />
arriving almost on a daily base!“ So the decision<br />

was made not just to have another M8-powered<br />
Bagger, but also one of the new „Softails“ in this<br />
year´s „Bolt On and Ride“ collection. The deal<br />
was sealed with Rick‘s, who is a long-time partner<br />
of CCE, having already built one outstanding<br />
bad bike for CCE, the 2014 „Black Bob“.<br />
Rick‘s has a long-time experience with the FXBR<br />
„Breakout“, so the <strong>2018</strong> „Breakout“ would serve<br />
as a showcase for CCE‘s new parts as well as<br />
for some Rick‘s products, international distribut-

When the parts list for the project was written, it<br />
was not too long after the introduction of the <strong>2018</strong><br />
Softails, so there is no surprise that the number<br />
of CCE parts in this project is not as big as usual:<br />
„Would the bike have been built in May <strong>2018</strong>, it<br />
may have looked different“, states Scholz, “but<br />
we wanted to wait until parts are homologated<br />
and available for sale.“ Which was the case for

the Performance Machine „Revel“ Platinum Cut<br />
design wheels which are manufacturered with<br />
adapter hubs for the M8 rolling chassis, thus allowing<br />
a 23 x 3.5 Incher in the stock fork and<br />
the huge 18 x 8.5 Inch wheel in the rear end,<br />
allowing to mount a 260 tire in the stock swing<br />
arm. Another „speciality“ by Rick‘s. They topped<br />
the monster tire with a brandnew tailend, developed<br />
for the new M8 frame/swing arm and – as<br />
always from Rick‘s – full „heavy metal“ sitting tight<br />
above the tire when the Air Suspension is in<br />
„low“ parking position. Just to mention it, at the<br />
front, Rick‘s did not have to re-invent the front<br />
fender, because his 23 Touring Fender fits just<br />
fine – and adds great protection from dirt.<br />

Already homologated and approved, Dr. Jekill &<br />
Mr. Hyde exhaust systems were also „ready“ for<br />
the new models: The „Shorty Slashcut“ is Euro<br />
4 approved and improved the sound to a more<br />
„Harley-like“ level and tone. Rick‘s added his latest<br />
„Good Guys“ air filter to the engine, along<br />
with a bi-colour „spoke“ cover which fits the PMwheels<br />
too. The primary is upgraded with Rick‘s<br />
Bull Eye Clutch Cover in Black Gloss: You can<br />
now watch the clutch „in action“. Other than this,<br />
the motor remains the stock 107 CuIn (1.753 cc)<br />
power-block that hardly needs any improvement

The rolling chassis remains pretty much in stock setup, but the stock wheels were exchanged for a complete set of Performance Machine „Revell“ design wheels.

(other than eliminating the electronic imposed<br />
speed limit ...).<br />

New from Custom Chrome Europe are the<br />
Rebuffini hand control sets with „Delta“<br />
Grips and clamps for electronic throttle.<br />
The bike is to be started with a certain<br />
combination of the – illuminated – push<br />
buttons, which first needs some routine.<br />
When you get the „knack“, you can start<br />
the bike as easy as a stock bike – but nobody<br />
else can. The switches are illuminated<br />
day and night, which is visible even<br />
in bright sunlight. Controls and switches<br />
look less bulky than the stock version, but<br />
need experienced mechanics to exchange<br />
for the stock parts. CCE Load Equalizer II<br />
and Turn Signal Load Equalizer help to align<br />
the aftermarket parts with the on-board<br />
electronic system, which otherwise could<br />
make mounting of electrical aftermarket<br />
parts more difficult. The Highsider „Apollo“<br />
bullet LED Taillight/Indicator combination<br />
at the rear fender looks much better and<br />
smaller than the stock parts. Black aluminum<br />
housing and smoked lenses add to<br />
the style, but there is an impressive light<br />
output from these parts!<br />

The handlebar comes from the Rick‘s<br />
Motorcycles parts programm as well as<br />
forward controls and the stylish headlight<br />
mask, as the Rick‘s team was asked to<br />
keep the project as much „bolt on“ as possible,<br />
the team did not perform its usual<br />
high-class tank extension: Rick‘s also has<br />
an option for stock tanks to be adapted in<br />
style to the custom-made seat and tailend<br />
combination.<br />

The „real Rick“ comes out, when you take<br />
„<strong>Moccarica</strong>“ to the road and click in the<br />
first gear: Despite being on the market for<br />
such a long time, Rick‘s forward controls<br />
are still the most responsive and easy to<br />
shift on the market. That‘s quite an accomplishment!<br />
With relaxed seat position,<br />
thanks to the high bars, „<strong>Moccarica</strong>“ takes<br />
off with extreme thrust – the H-D engine<br />
department certainly has done their<br />
homework! Turns are taken with ease, the<br />
23 Incher at the front is steering the bike<br />
quickly into turns, while the fat rear rubber<br />
delivers the power to the road. During the<br />
first rides around Pasohlavky, the „<strong>Moccarica</strong>“<br />
soon turned out to be one of the<br />
favourite „riders“, especially when it came<br />
to do the „angling“ shots.<br />

Again, the team-up of Custom Chrome<br />
Europe and Rick‘s Motorcycles has created<br />
an outstanding riding machine – one<br />
that will certainly get some miles on its<br />
speedo. And for the new parts meanwhile<br />
introduced? „We´ll find a way to introduce<br />
these new parts, no worries about that“,<br />
smiles Scholz with the same smile he had<br />
on his face after riding the bike around<br />
Pasohlavky, „we always have some aces<br />
up our sleeves ...“<br />

EURO BIKE FEST „Bolt On and Ride“ Tour<br />
Almost every year, CCE‘s „Bolt On and Ride“ bikes are ridden and<br />
photographed in the scenic landscapes of Southern Moravia, close to<br />
Pasohlavky, just south of Brno/Brünn. This years EURO BIKE FEST<br />
marked the 10th Anniversary of the event – and again 3 out of four<br />
<strong>BOAR</strong> rides were available for the press for riding.<br />
Even inside the event location there are some scenic spots to shoot a<br />
motorcycles, consequently the <strong>2018</strong> <strong>BOAR</strong> bikes were not just taken<br />
„on the road“ for the annual riding shots, but the „<strong>Moccarica</strong>“ – which<br />
did premiere at EURO BIKE FEST – was also shot first on a scenic<br />
outdoor location in the last available daylight, highlighting the paintjob<br />
and all cool details!<br />

“Bolt On and Ride” again rides into the <strong>2018</strong> season! As in previous<br />
years, Custom Chrome Europe has commissioned a complete<br />
new line-up of „BOLT ON AND RIDE“ motorcycles that range from<br />
Sportster to the most current „Milwaukee Eight“ Harley-Davidson<br />
model lines. Studio, outdoor and riding images are made and continuously<br />
updated during the season!<br />
This „Bolt On and Ride“ Softail „Breakout“, built by no other than<br />
German top-customparts manufacturer Rick‘s Motorcycles in Baden-Baden<br />
continues the line of trendsetting ridable powerbikes by<br />
Custom Chrome. In best Rick‘s tradition, the Rick‘s team has not just<br />
worked on CCE‘s parts list, but added brand-new Rick‘s parts, now<br />
also available for the new <strong>2018</strong> model year bikes at CCE. The bike<br />
premiered at EURO BIKE FEST‘s 10th Anniversary <strong>2018</strong> in Pasohlavky/Czech<br />
Republic in May. As during the last decade, the <strong>2018</strong> „BOLT<br />
ON AND RIDE“ motorcycles are not only ridden by CCE staff but also<br />
