ARTS AND CRAFTS
Debuts In Barcelona
Contemporary Welsh landscape artist Sarah Jane Brown is taking
her work overseas with some exciting international exhibitions
planned over the next few months.
Having exhibited for the first time in Barcelona at the Artbaho
Contemporary Art Fair 2018 in September, she will also be
presenting her paintings in a later exhibition at the Art Nou
Millenni Gallery in the centre of Barcelona. A further exhibition
follows at the Museum Gustavo Maetzu in Navarra, North West
Spain in December 2018, with another show at the Art Nou
Millenni Gallery in Barcelona early in 2019.
For the opportunity to see Sarah Jane’s latest work in Wales, head to
Off The Wall Gallery in Llandaff, Cardiff where her solo exhibition
‘Blurring Time and Tide’ is available to see until 21st November.
Inspired by personal recollections of the coast, the work in this
exhibition explores the intense yet fleeting nature of memory and its
effect upon the present. Original oil paintings will be available for
sale, together with cards and limited edition prints.
Sarah Jane has exhibited widely across the UK, and her work is
now collected internationally. Current work can also be seen at
Etcetera Gallery in St Davids, the Russell Gallery in Putney and the
Discerner Gallery in Mayfair, by appointment.
Live Opera In The Heart Of Rural Wales
MWO’s SmallStages returns this Autumn, bringing
live opera to the heart of communities across Wales and
the Borders with Ravel’s exhilarating one-act clock shop
comedy, A Spanish Hour (L’heure espagnole). With five
singers and four musicians, bursting with hummable tunes
and buzzing habaneras, join Concepción and her lovers as
the temperatures rise…
In the second half of the evening, musicians and singers
come together to produce an eclectic and entertaining taste
of Spain – with some old favourites and new delights for
audiences to enjoy. This is opera for everyone, performing
a new English translation by Artistic Director Richard
Studer and a new arrangement of Ravel’s exotic score
created by Music Director Jonathan Lyness.
of art this Christmas with
