Orland Township is set<br />
for an evening of dinner,<br />
dancing and live entertainment,<br />
as 12 local seniors<br />
vie for the title of 2019<br />
Orland Township Senior<br />
American Idol.<br />
The 12 contestants will<br />
perform songs of their<br />
choice, hoping to move on<br />
to the next round. Contestants<br />
receiving the highest<br />
scores will advance to the<br />
next round. Scores are determined<br />
by a combination<br />
of points from a panel of<br />
local celebrity judges, audience<br />
vote and ballot box<br />
totals. Each contestant will<br />
have a ballot box set up,<br />
and audience members are<br />
encouraged to fill the boxes<br />
of their favorite singer<br />
with money. All ballot box<br />
money is donated to the<br />
Orland Township Scholarship<br />
Foundation.<br />
Local celebrity judges<br />
include local radio personality<br />
Rich Renik and entertainer<br />
James Libera. The<br />
evening also will include<br />
a performance by 2018 Senior<br />
American Idol winner<br />
Phil Orsi.<br />
Orland Township Senior<br />
American Idol competition<br />
is to take place Thursday,<br />
May 9, at Georgios Banquets,<br />
8800 W. 159th St. in<br />
Orland Park. Doors open<br />
at 4:30 p.m., and dinner<br />
will be served at 5:30 p.m.,<br />
with the singing competition<br />
following dinner.<br />
Tickets are $30 and include<br />
a plated dinner and<br />
cash bar. Tickets can be<br />
purchased in advance at<br />
the Orland Township office,<br />
14807 S. Ravinia Ave.<br />
in Orland Park. No ticket<br />
sales at the door.<br />
All proceeds from the<br />
event benefit the Orland<br />

members is $10, with admission<br />
for non-members<br />

Geringer’s presentation<br />

pirates, sword duels, romance<br />

at New Orleans in the early<br />
19th Century.<br />
