PTSD Self-Help Guide

Part 1a

The Braking Strategy

A Braking Strategy is simply as it suggests. It is a way of applying the brakes and slowing

our life down a little to give us a bit of space and time to think clearly. That is it in a nutshell.

This can be absolutely anything, reading, listening to music, art, creative writing, walking,

exercise, etc. As a piece of personal advice, avoid TV or newspapers. Negative content

may be responsible for worsening symptoms of PTSD. Use this space as a notepad to jot

down possible ideas.
