H

USBAND and wife team Vince and Donna Eales are the

team behind Woodseats giftware and greetings card

shop Gifts & More.

Donna has worked in retail since she was a teenager and

always wanted to run her own shop.

When looking for a unit to realise her ambition, the couple

turned to Woodseats as they “couldn’t think of a better place”.

Their business is at

Chesterfield Road.

Donna said: “We both

want to give great

customer service and

make everyone have a

fun shopping experience.

“Our shop gives great

quality cards and gifts at

great prices, also our

bespoke service offers

personalised goods.

“I feel our personalities

make our business stand

out. We are what you see

- genuine people who

enjoy our work. We like

to give good oldfashioned

customer service. We try to go the extra mile for our

customers.”

Donna added: “I think people trust us more as a family

business. We are trusted not only with personal information but

are honoured to make unique gifts, often sensitive gifts such as

memorial plaques.

“I like to think some of our customers can come in sad and

leave with a smile. They start as customers and finish as

friends.”

HE magazine you are reading right now is produced by a

local family-run business.

Heron Publications Ltd was formed almost 17 years ago and now

delivers its free community publications to 51,500 homes and

businesses stretching from Sheffield to Clay Cross.

In addition to Active8, the independent publishers are also behind

Dronfield Eye which is delivered throughout S18; Twist magazine in

Chesterfield and Wings in the north Derbyshire villages of

Wingerworth, Ashover and Tupton.

Also produced by Heron Publications is the local nostalgia

periodical, My Kind of Town,

which has subscribers

throughout the UK and

overseas.

Magazine advertisers, in

particular, enjoy dealing with a

friendly, family-run business.

After all, many of them are

from similarly-run businesses.

Director Mike Firth, who runs

the company with wife Helen,

said: “People appreciate the

reassurances, guarantees and

flexibility we can offer them.

They like to deal with fellow

independent companies and the

fact that ours is a family-run

concern is also appreciated.

“In return, we can closely

identify with the demands of similar companies and offer them

tailor-made advertising packages to help them attract new

custom.”

Heron Publications, which has its office in Dronfield, was a

regional finalist in the FSB’s search for the 2019 Community

Business of the Year. The publishers won the East Midlands title

two years ago.
