How can Plantation Shutters improve
the privacy in a bathroom?
Plantation Shutters allow you to control light coming into the
room, as well as providing the privacy required. There is no need
to totally close off the window and have a dark bathroom when
you have shutters, whereas with heavy curtains or blinds you do.

that are fitted to the rest of the house?
All of our materials can be installed by customers in bathrooms,
provided the room is well-ventilated and the shutter is
not directly exposed to water. If your window is in direct
contact with water or if your bathroom is unventilated, we
advise customers to order the Permawood range for their
bathroom, wet room or kitchen. These waterproof shutters
have the same appearance of wooden shutters but are made
from ABS (better quality and more elegant than vinyl)
which won’t warp or split when in contact with water.
Are there choices of styles and colours?
There are no limitations to how you can design your
bathroom window shutters, as they come in many styles
and colours. We often recommend tier on tier, which can
potentially provide full privacy for the lower section while
having the top section open for more natural light and
ventilation. We have a wide range of colours and stains.
Our most popular is white, which allows maximum light
reflection and blends in with enamel sinks and baths.
How long do they take to fit? Is it a messy process?
Shutters will arrive as a finished man-made product. Some
fittings can be slightly more complicated, such as in bathrooms,
but as experts, we are more than familiar with fitting to tiles/
glass, for example. We always protect the windows and surrounds
when working on any room and never leave a mess. We would
hope to be able to fit shutters on a single window in about
two hours, but naturally it depends on how complicated the fit
can turn out to be.
Can shutters be fitted into all types of windows?
There is no other window treatment that can complement
feature-shaped windows better than shutters. They are custom
made to fit triangular and curved windows of any shape or
size, as well as your standard rectangular windows. If you’re
worried about being unable to open your shutters because of
taps, or tiles obstructing the panels, there is usually a way to
work around it. We advise customers to really think about
how they envisage using their bathroom shutters, as this is
important when designing your panel and slat configuration.
Can you give us a rough idea of cost?
Our product costs vary based on specification and quality.
We stay away from products that seem tempting due to
price – as the leading specialist and longest established
company within the UK, we know this is a false economy.
That said, for a great product our range starts from £150
per m2 and goes up to about £390 per m2. Our best value
and most popular product are about £250 per m2.
