Internal discounts<br />

Given the fact that our paying customers always take precedence, the Holiday and Resort Park <strong>Weissenhäuser</strong> <strong>Strand</strong> offers its employees, their<br />

spouse or partner, as well as their children various benefits. At the respective outlets, the following discounts are available to our employees upon<br />

presentation of their employee ID card. The employee ID card is not be passed on to third parties.<br />

Admission is free of charge<br />

(with the exception of CW 7, 8, 42, 43 and the<br />

main season).<br />

Our Standards<br />

We are extremely excited to welcome you to the staff at <strong>Weissenhäuser</strong> <strong>Strand</strong>. Finding the best employees and retaining them is one of our most important corporate<br />

goals. In the following, we would like to share the most important information about WHS and Schleswig-Holstein with you. This information will help make our collaboration<br />

successful. We are looking forward to a successful and trustful cooperation.<br />

A<br />

Accident avoidance<br />

Not only are we responsible for the safety and wellbeing<br />

of our guests, but we also have to look after<br />

our own safety at work. Fatigue, anger, ignoring<br />

dangers, dissatisfaction, „being in a bad mood“, as<br />

well as other grounds are some of the main reasons<br />

for the occurrence of accidents. Furthermore, the<br />

following examples demonstrate some sources of<br />

errors and accidents:<br />

• Inform your supervisor immediately regarding<br />

dangerous working conditions or malfunctioning<br />

devices that, in your opinion, can lead to injuries.<br />

• Even if you are in a rush, please do not run. In<br />

particular on stairs – hold the handrail.<br />

• Use ladders.<br />

• Never leave doors or cabinet drawers open<br />

around your workstation.<br />

• Do not leave any equipment or devices lying<br />

around unattended.<br />

• Never carry more than you can manage and<br />

oversee.<br />

• Always ensure that water, grease, or other<br />

objects are never on the floor. Please ensure<br />

that these types of potential accident sources<br />

are removed immediately.<br />

Accidents at work<br />

All workplace accidents must be immediately reported<br />

to the HR department.<br />

Alcohol and drugs<br />

The consumption of alcohol and use of drugs during<br />

working hours is strictly prohibited. Furthermore,<br />

alcohol should not be consumed prior to beginning<br />

your shift. If you notice that a colleague may have a<br />

major problem with alcohol (which may constitute an<br />

illness), then please inform a member of management.<br />

Announcements<br />

Information and notices made by the general and<br />

operational management staff are posted on the notice<br />

board. They are deemed to be a legally effective<br />

declaration. No member of the staff can appeal to<br />

that fact that they did not see or read the posted<br />

information unless this person was prevented from<br />

learning about it through no fault of their own.<br />

Appearance<br />

Please consider that as an employee in the hospitality<br />

industry, you reflect our hotel and resort. Our<br />

guests pay in order to have an enjoyable time at our<br />

hotel. Your personal conduct will have a significant<br />

influence on ensuring that our guests enjoy their<br />

stay. Therefore, please avoid the following:<br />

• Talking loudly<br />

• Arguing<br />

• Standing around in groups<br />

• Making personal phone calls<br />

• Consuming alcoholic beverages during your shift<br />

• Eating, drinking or smoking in the guest area<br />

• Letting your bad mood be felt by a guest or<br />

colleague<br />

Furthermore, we assume that you value your appearance<br />

and that you will come to work each day<br />

clean and well-kept. Please always ensure that you:<br />

• Dress properly<br />

• Shine your shoes – males, please always wear<br />

black socks<br />

• Have a neat haircut<br />

• Do not emit any inappropriate body odour<br />

• Have clean fingernails<br />

• Are not wearing audacious jewellery or too<br />

much make-up<br />

• Do not use any obtrusive perfume or aftershave.<br />

Appreciation<br />

Mutual appreciation of all colleagues is our top<br />

priority. We also respect others when they have different<br />

opinions and beliefs from our own. Particularly<br />

important is also the respect of colleagues from<br />

different cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs.<br />

B<br />

Bank account<br />

If you do not have a German bank account, please<br />

open one at any bank in Germany. Please inform the<br />

HR department of your bank account to ensure<br />

that you receive on-time salary payments.<br />

Bicycles<br />

You can rent a bicycle from us. Please contact the<br />

bicycle rental office.<br />

Bus routes<br />

The bus stop “<strong>Weissenhäuser</strong> <strong>Strand</strong> Ferienpark” is<br />

located near the Information building. All public buses<br />

depart from this stop. Please check the current<br />

timetable for times. In addition to the bus service,<br />

either an on-call bus or taxi (see: Employee Advantages)<br />

can be used.<br />

C<br />

Change of address/ residence notification<br />

As soon as you have moved into your new apartment,<br />

you have 14 days to register with the registry office<br />

(“Einwohnermeldeamt”). Please bring your ID card,<br />

your birth certificate or certificate of identification,<br />

as well as the certificate of residence. Please register<br />

Changing your contact information<br />

Please report any change of address – as well as<br />

changes in your bank details, tax bracket (class),<br />

mobile phone number, e-mail address, etc. – to the<br />

HR department as soon as possible.<br />

Complaints<br />

Complaint management has a particularly important<br />

standing in our company. We view every complaint<br />

as an opportunity. Only in this way can we improve<br />

and grow.<br />

Of course, occasionally a guest will depart our hotel<br />

unsatisfied and not inform us. Unfortunately, that<br />

does not help us. A study shows that people more<br />

often communicate a poor experience than a positive<br />

one. So if a guest departs our hotel and is not<br />

satisfied with their experience, the absolute loss in<br />

many new potential guests may be much higher.<br />

Here are a few initial rules of conduct when handling<br />

complaints:<br />

• Always allow the guest to air their grievance<br />

without interrupting them<br />

• Remain calm and friendly<br />

• Never feel personally responsible or verbally<br />

attacked<br />

• Tell the guest you are sorry<br />

• If appropriate, offer the guest a beverage (tee,<br />

coffee, etc.)<br />

• If necessary, get your manager to solve the<br />

problem<br />

Computers<br />

The personal use of the hotel‘s computers is not<br />

allowed.<br />

Confidentiality<br />

As we have formulated in your employment contract,<br />

we expect you not to talk about internal<br />

matters outside the company. All internal company<br />

documents must not be taken home and no personal<br />

copies of digital files can be made.<br />

Crew-Restaurant<br />

Open daily from 12:00 to 14:00.<br />

(Back entrance Möwenbräu).<br />

D<br />

Duty of care towards equipment<br />

Please exercise care when handling fixtures and<br />

equipment.<br />

E<br />

Eating and drinking<br />

Only in areas to which guests have no physical or<br />

visual access.<br />

Emergency<br />

In Germany, the following phone numbers are emergency<br />

numbers:<br />

• 110 for police emergencies<br />

• 112 for fire/medical emergencies<br />

Employees recruit employees<br />

Are you well-networked in the industry? If you have<br />

a good recommendation for a new employee, then<br />

let us know! This is particularly relevant and helpful<br />

if you know that a position is currently vacant. In this<br />

case, our “employees recruit employees” model will<br />

also provide you with a financial reward.<br />

First aid<br />

First aid training is provided on the premises.<br />

G<br />

German-language classes<br />

Learning German is an important first step for a<br />

successful stay in Germany. We offer our employees<br />

German classes at no extra charge. Please ask your<br />

manager and participate regularly.<br />

H<br />

Holidays<br />

Every employee has a right to a paid holiday. Please<br />

use the holiday request forms to submit your holiday<br />

request. Please be aware that holidays are not permitted<br />

during certain times in the year. If you are<br />

newly employed, plan your remaining annual leave<br />

within 14 days and submit it to your supervisor or<br />

manager.<br />

I<br />

Illness<br />

Should you become ill, then we expect you to submit<br />

a doctor’s note beginning on the first day of your<br />

illness.Call your department manager or the HR<br />

department immediately and inform them how long<br />

you will be on sick leave. Send the certificate docmenting<br />

your illness and incapacity to work to the<br />

company (HR office) within three days.<br />

K<br />

Keys<br />

Keys are a touchy subject. These “small things” are<br />

often misplaced, lost, or forgotten. Please take care<br />

and be responsible with the keys provided to you. It<br />

can be expensive when locks have to be replaced.<br />

All keys issued for a day must be properly recorded<br />

in the issue list and returned to the designated place<br />

at the end of the day.<br />

Knowledge about the company<br />

It is really important that you know about the company<br />

and that you can provide information to our<br />

guests. The more you know about <strong>Weissenhäuser</strong><br />

<strong>Strand</strong>, the better you are able to help our guests.<br />

L<br />

Locker<br />

Always keep your locker closed and locked. Please<br />

do not keep items of significant value in your locker.<br />

Please do not leave anything in front of, or on top of,<br />

your locker. Regular checks of the changing rooms<br />

are carried out and „abandoned“ items are disposed<br />

of. Always keep your locker key in a safe place – you<br />

willbe charged €10.00 in case of loss.<br />

Lost and found<br />

It sometimes happens that guests leave something<br />

behind. Should you find something, please return it<br />

to the Service Point immediately and include:<br />

• The finder’s name<br />

• Location where the item was found<br />

• Time and date<br />

• Description of the item<br />

M<br />

Moving<br />

If you move, please inform the HR office of your new<br />

address immediately.<br />

P<br />

Parking<br />

Employee parking is free of charge. Employees receive<br />

a parking card that is valid in the marked employee<br />

parking areas. The parking areas P1, P2 and<br />

A outside of our main grounds are available to our<br />

employees free of charge. All other parking spaces<br />

are for the exclusive use of our guests. Please inform<br />

the HR department of your vehicle registration<br />

number.<br />

It is strictly prohibited to give your employee parking<br />

card to others. It is intended solely for your own personal<br />

use. In case of violation, the parking card will<br />

be confiscated and no new one will be issued.<br />

Post<br />

If your mail is being sent to <strong>Weissenhäuser</strong> <strong>Strand</strong>,<br />

then it will be kept in the mail distribution room<br />

ehind the information area. If you move, please arrange<br />

for mail forwarding and inform important contacts<br />

such as banks, GEZ, health insurance pr viders,<br />

etc. about your current place of residence.<br />

R<br />

Relationships between colleagues<br />

Every employee has the right to enjoy a happy and<br />

fulfilling love life. In the event that a relationship<br />

begins between two colleagues, however, this relationship<br />

must not negatively influence their work.<br />

Openly displaying feelings for one another is neither<br />

desired nor professional. Please refrain from holding<br />

hands,kissing, or doing other things that may potentially<br />

irritate either our guests or other staff members.<br />

S<br />

Satisfaction<br />

Your satisfaction and happiness is near and dear to<br />

us. If there ever is a reason for you to be unhappy,<br />

please consult your supervisor or contact the HR department.<br />

We will strive to reach a mutual solution.<br />

Secondary employment<br />

Based on your employment contract with us, you are<br />

not permitted to accept any secondary employment<br />

elsewhere. In principle, secondary employment<br />

must be authorised. If you are planning on working<br />

for another employer on your days off (even if only<br />

for a few hours), then please speak with your department<br />

manager or supervisor. Your manager will<br />

discuss this with you and approve, if possible. However,<br />

please note that as your main employer we<br />

have to make sure that you rest on your days off and<br />

thereby strengthen your working capacity for us. We<br />

will only approve your secondary employment if this<br />

principal is not violated. This must not result in all of<br />

your scheduling wishes. Being related to having time<br />

for your secondary employment.<br />

Service attire/uniform<br />

In different service areas, employees must wear<br />

service attire. The attire is provided to the respective<br />

department by the employer at no charge. The<br />

service attire must be handled properly and worn<br />

completely at all times. Each person shall change<br />

their clothes in such a way that they start their shift<br />

in a clean and tidy condition. All employees who<br />

have direct contact to our guests are obligated to<br />

wear a name tag that must be well visible and positioned<br />

on the left lapel. All kitchen employees must<br />

wear a head covering. Wearing trainers/sneakers<br />

(except in the sports or animation areas) or open<br />

shoes is strictly prohibited.<br />

Service schedule<br />

Service schedules are provided by your manager.<br />

Only service/shift schedules signed by your manager<br />

are valid. Please always remember when your<br />

shift begins and arrive on time and wearing your<br />

service attire. If there are important grounds that<br />

make you unable to begin your shift on time, please<br />

inform your manager as soon as possible. If you have<br />

any special scheduling wishes, please submit these<br />

in due time. If you want to swap a shift with your<br />

colleague, please inform your department manager/<br />

shift supervisor.<br />

Service quality<br />

What does service quality or customer satisfactionmean?<br />

Here are some key points:<br />

• Welcome each guest with hospitality and<br />

friendliness.<br />

• Be flexible in responding to their wishes.<br />

• Be open and honest with all guests and<br />

colleagues.<br />

• Always put yourself in your guest’s shoes and<br />

try seeing things from their perspective.<br />

• Offer the guest a clean restaurant and a welcoming<br />

atmosphere.<br />

• Also be well-informed regarding the hotel, our<br />

range of services, and the surrounding area.<br />

Sexual harassment<br />

We would like to make it clear that there is ZERO<br />

tolerance for sexual harassment in our company.<br />

Sexual harassment, regardless of what form it takes,<br />

must be expressly refrained from. Any employee<br />

whois either personally affected or witnesses such<br />

an act must immediately inform the head of department<br />

or the management. We point out that sexual<br />

This can include termination. In addition, there will<br />

Shuttle bus<br />

<strong>Weissenhäuser</strong> <strong>Strand</strong> has its own free shuttle bus<br />

service for employees. This service is available to<br />

every employee who does not have their own means<br />

of transportation. Use of the shuttle bus must be registered<br />

in advance.<br />

Smoking<br />

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all guest areas. If<br />

you would like to take a smoking break, then let your<br />

colleagues know and do not just go when you want to.<br />

Logging in and out for your smoking breaks is mandatory.<br />

After having a cigarette, please take a mint or<br />

use a mouth spray before going back to the guest.<br />

Staff flat<br />

If required, we will provide you with a staff flat for<br />

which a fee will be charged. These flats are mainly<br />

located in Oldenburg i.H. People live here in shared<br />

flats (2-4 persons). You will receive a rental contract,<br />

a list of house rules/ conduct, and a residence permit.<br />

You will be provided with bed linens and towels. We<br />

would like to point out that the furniture and inventory<br />

must be treated with care and must not be<br />

moved about arbitrarily. No furniture is permitted on<br />

the balcony. No structural changes may be made to<br />

the flat. Walls and doors may not be painted, coloured,<br />

or pasted with stickers and the like. Please recycle<br />

your empty bottles and cans and do not leave<br />

these in the flat or on the balcony. Please do not<br />

smoke in the flat and please be considerate of your<br />

neighbours and flatmates. Please remove your rubbish<br />

on a regular basis. If something breaks in your<br />

flat, please notify guest services. The staff flats are<br />

inspected on a regular basis. You will be notified of<br />

a visit in advance.<br />

Suggestions for improvement<br />

We are particularly dependent on your help. You<br />

know best where improvements need to be made,<br />

where processes need to be optimised, where cost<br />

savings can be achieved, or where we can offer<br />

our guests an even better service. At our company,<br />

suggestions for improvement have a special significance.<br />

If you have a good idea, please contact your<br />

manager or supervisor.<br />

If you do not have a German tax ID yet, then you<br />

must personally request one from the Finanzamt (tax<br />

offices). Once you have received your tax ID, please<br />

Termination<br />

If you intend to resign for a business-related reason,<br />

talk to your supervisor about this issue beforehand.<br />

Perhaps you will be able to find a mutual solution.<br />

Moreover, please consider the contractually agreed<br />

(or statutory) notice period for your termination. On<br />

your last work day, all items given to you by the company<br />

must be returned – this includes: e.g., keys,<br />

documents, service attire. For this case, we have a<br />

“checklist” which is available from your department<br />

Time recording<br />

Your daily working hours are recorded via a time<br />

recording system. For the correct recording of your<br />

hours, it is important that you sign-in prior to beginning<br />

your workday and that you sign-out during your<br />

breaks and after your workday ends. Please scan<br />

your finger at the terminal. Abusing the time recording<br />

system (signing in or out too early or too late)<br />

is strictly prohibited and will lead to disciplinary<br />

consequences.<br />

W<br />

Waste<br />

In Germany, waste is separated. There is a blackcontainer<br />

for all of your residual and non-recyclable<br />

waste. The yellow plastic bag (“Gelber Sack”) is for<br />

metal packaging/cans, aluminium packaging, plastic<br />

packaging, and composites. Cardboard and paper,<br />

such as newspapers, envelopes, and magazines,<br />

are placed in the paper waste container (blue container).<br />

Glass bottles must be placed in the publicly<br />

accessible glass containers. You can find the waste<br />

Work instructions are legally binding instructions of<br />
