Thank you to our awesome
volunteers!
Left: Family groups took advantage of the recent Volunteering Canterbury Family
Volunteering Day working together to plant 250 Mikimiki, Hebe Strictissima, Jointed Rush,
Sea Rush and Knobby Club Rush plants at Charlesworth Reserve.
Right: The generosity of donations of used curtains to the curtain bank is matched by the
generosity of volunteers who help to sort, measure and pack curtains before they go to their
new homes. A team from Ravensdown gave a hand at the curtain bank earlier this year.
We sincerely thank our
wonderful volunteers for
their valuable contribution
to Orana Wildlife Park.
We are currently seeking
passionate people
to join our
volunteer team,
for a variety
of roles
including
guiding
visitors and
driving our
Safari Shuttle
(particularly
on weekends).
If you would
like to join
our team,
please contact
National Volunteer Week, running from 16 to 22 June, celebrates
the collective contribution of the 1.2 million volunteers who enrich
Aotearoa New Zealand. This year’s theme is “Whiria te tangata –
weaving the people together”. Volunteering, Mahi Aroha and social
action weave people and communities together.
Volunteering is a powerful movement. When we volunteer our
time we send a message about what is important in our communities.
This National Volunteer Week we celebrate the diversity of
volunteers and volunteering, Mahi Aroha and social action in
Aotearoa. We celebrate everyone who creates connections in their
own communities from the Marae to the Mosque, from our biggest
cities to our most remote communities. We celebrate everyone who
volunteers in times of crisis, in times of healing and everyone who
makes time and space to walk alongside others.
Now more than ever, as a volunteering community we commit to
manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga. We commit to caring,
and to building meaningful, enduring and inclusive relationships
across our differences, and to make space for diverse voices.
We can create a diverse, inclusive, caring, kind and connected
future. Volunteering makes a difference – for the community
and the volunteer. Find out how you can make a difference in
Canterbury by checking out over 250 available volunteer roles at
Volunteering
Changes Lives.
With over 230 volunteer roles
to choose from, we’re here to
help you make a difference,
so together we can eliminate
poverty, save the environment
and make Canterbury a
great place to live.
GirlGuiding NZ is a non-profit organisation where girls can
be girls, where they will discover their passions, contribute to
their communities and form friendships in a safe and positive
environment.
Our aim is that all girls and young women are valued, inspired
and empowered to take action to change their world. We do this
by enabling girls and young women to develop into confident,
adventurous and empowered leaders in their communities.
Our volunteers are at the forefront of this, giving their time and
skills for the benefit of girls in their communities.
Whether teaching them about other cultures through games,
or exploring the outdoors while camping, their work is truly at
the heart of what we do, and without them we simply couldn’t
function!
As we continue to work alongside our amazing volunteers to
empower girls in New Zealand, we want to acknowledge their
impact and spread the word that we are always on the lookout
for go-getters, brainstormers, mentors and adventurers to
volunteer with us!
