Actually, it's not just any old plane!

It's the iconic Concorde!

The team at the Concorde Conference Centre

in Manchester really know how to create

a memorable party. Perfect for corporate

celebrations and client receptions, the

impressive purpose-built super hangar is home

to the legendary flagship of the British Airways'

fleet. Dining under the wings of Concorde

certainly takes partying to new heights and if

you're looking for a dynamic summer setting for

a soiree or a Christmas party venue guests won't

forget, Concorde Conference Centre is ideal.

The Sumer Soiree package includes a red carpet

and flambeau entrance, drinks reception and then

either a hot or cold buffet. Guests can get onboard

Concorde or hit the dance floor in a star light

party atmosphere with a DJ keeping everyone

entertained. The package is available through to

the end of September and costs £35 per person.

There's free on-site parking too.

Event organisers and party planners can add on

extras; for an additional £5 per head, upgrade to

a sit down three course meal. A cocktail package

can also be added on. This includes a cocktail

bar, two mixologists and up to 300 cocktails.

The exclusive Christmas party package starts

from £39 per person and offers access to the

hangar from 8:00am until 1:00am, atmospheric

lighting including a changeable colour wash of

light on Concorde, personalised nose cone logo

projection and a star lit backdrop.

Guests have the VIP red carpet arrival to a

sparkling drinks reception held around poseur

tables under the aircraft nose and up to two hours

to take a tour around Concorde. Catering includes

a sumptuous three course meal plus a late night

snack and the bar can be arranged for cash or

account sales.

produce and local talent, Adam Reid at The French

has been named one of the top 15 restaurants

in the UK. The award-winning restaurant has

been home to the head chef since 2013. With a

background working in Michelin-starred restaurants,

Menu competition and among many other titles,

The French picked up winner of the Premium Fine

Dining Restaurant of the Year 2018.

Dining at The French is certainly exciting. The decor

is a combination of cool dramatic marble, warm

neutral leather and glittering statement lighting.

There's a choice of six and nine course menus in

addition to a quicker four course option plus the

winning Great British Menu can also be enjoyed.

For round the table talk, drop into the conversation

that Rolls met Royce at this hotel and Churchill

dined on oysters and champagne before making

one of his speeches. He then went on to enjoy a

fine dining five course menu that lasted until 3am!

The Midland was also the place David and Victoria

Beckham had their first date!

has been developed by head chef Alex Fretwell

and it offers a wide-ranging choice, ensuring

too. The newly launched vegan street food menu

is an excellent example. There's also a superb

selection of sharing platters including home

baked flat breads with hummus and Korean

Barbecue Glazed Chicken Drumsticks in addition

to plenty of vegetarian options. International

cuisine is also a focus with tantalising Indian

and Mexican buffets. Equally exciting is the

IET London: Savoy Place

You would expect the Institution of Engineering

and Technology to have the very latest AV

equipment and IET London: Savoy Place doesn't

disappoint! Along with state-of-the-art equipment,

there's an expert team of technicians taking care

of digital content and visuals. It's no surprise the

London Venue Awards gave Best Screen and Sound

Award to IET London: Savoy Place.

Sandra Mideros is part of this award-winning AV

team. She studied Audiovisual Communication in

Colombia before moving to the UK and studying

graphic design in London. She's been at Savoy

Place for the last three years.

She tells us more...

A Day in the Life

"Our venue has cutting edge technology which

gives us a unique edge on other venues in central

London. We have about 90 client facing screens

throughout the building and a large part of my

role is to look after the content for them. We have

an impressive 4K video wall in the foyer, which

is a favourite of mine! It’s the first thing people

see when they arrive; it's large, vibrant and really

brings the building to life.

"We also have a digital chandelier, screens inside

and outside of meeting rooms and a video wall

in the Faraday Centre. This showcases our IET

events, live social media feeds, pictures, videos

and information for members.

"I'm in charge of video and image content

production so I get to create appealing displays

for both internal and external clients. A large part

of my role is answering questions from clients

such as formats and pixel counts. I like to think I

make technology understandable for our clients

who don't deal with it on a regular basis!"

Usually working a week to two weeks in advance,

Sandra creates a default visual playlist for all the

screens. If a client using the venue for an event

wishes to use their own playlist on screens, it's

Sandra who will make this happen. She explains

more about the options available:

"We can live stream a meeting or event from one

room in the building to another, or even across

the world, display live updates as they happen

on social media with a Twitter wall and even

schedule in live TV. So, if we were showing the

football world cup, we can time content, like

a company's branding, to show in the screen

before it cuts back to live TV. We can even arrange

for specific content to play at the same time as

specific music.

"Lots of companies like to use the screens for

their own branding and for information relating to

the day, like agendas, images, seating plans and

guest speaker information. The digital screens are

much cheaper and quicker than printing branded

materials and we only need three days notice

to create the content so last minute changes are

never a problem."

Savoy Place is home to an exhibition showcasing

the 100 engineering ideas that have changed the

world. Sandra looks after the informational screens

off to the side of the exhibition. She explains:

"The lighting behind the boxes can be set to a

specific colour, which is great for adding a branding

colour to an event. In the future, we are looking into

accurately matching HEX colours and to program

each box individually for a client’s requirements.

"We're also updating the lighting and speakers to

the Riverside Room, which from September will

also benefit from a 4K video wall.

"New cutting-edge software will allow for video

mapping so we can compose and manage

multiple media such as videos, images, live

feeds and animations. We'll then play them

across multiple screens and video walls within

the room and all perfectly synchronised, either

simultaneously or at pre-set times.

"It's also good for an event organiser to know that

we don't have any problems supporting multiple

devices simultaneously to the WiFi during an

event either."

meetings, receptions, award ceremonies and

corporate celebrations. Situated in Westminster,

it's convenient to reach via tube, rail and river and
