communication is key and

the Pre-School at any time to
discuss any issues relating to their child or
the Pre-School. We will always operate an
open-door policy to all parents.
Each child is assigned to a key person who has a responsibility to monitor
the child’s progress, maintain development records and plan and provide
stimulating activities to encourage the child’s development. We will hold
regular parent’s evenings which will give you, the parent, the chance to sit
down and discuss your child and their development with their key person.
Keeping the parents well informed is essential for us to provide the highest
quality of care possible. General notices will be displayed in the Pre-School,
a weekly newsletter is distributed, and we will communicate face-to-face,
via telephone and email where necessary. Parents are also invited to attend
open and information evenings throughout the year.
At Puffin’s we provide Breakfast, Lunch and Tea,

At Puffin’s your child will benefit from an environment that will encourage
them to develop as an individual. We will provide a range of activities that
follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to suit the ability of
each child; supporting them through their learning and helping them to
build foundations of practises that will prepare them for their transition
into a school environment. We realise the importance of helping children
to settle and understand that parents/carers must feel comfortable leaving
their children. We provide a home-from-home environment that is safe,
nurturing and stimulating, allowing the children to feel happy and
confident as they learn.
We encourage the
children to have time each
day to explore the outdoors,
no matter what the weather!
We will do this through both
structured and free play. Our
garden is well equipped with a
range of activities including sand
and water play, mark-making,
problem-solving and a growing area
for those green-fingered little ones.
Extraordinary people providing outstanding care
through unique opportunities to exceed expectations
At Puffin’s we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that
enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early
years and a child’s experience between birth and age five have a major
impact on their future. Good parenting and high quality early learning
together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their
abilities and talents as they grow up.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets
the standards that we must meet to ensure
that children learn and develop well and
are kept healthy and safe. It promotes
teaching and learning to ensure
children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives
the children the broad range of
knowledge and skills that provide the
right foundation for good future
progress through school and life.
The EYFS seeks to provide quality and
consistency in early years settings, a secure
foundation through learning, partnership
between practitioners and parents and
equality of opportunity; ensuring that every
child is included and supported.
The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development and for
safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
