of her hair can tend to look a bit flat, meaning that her face may look wider if the proportion isn’t right.

I therefore suggest that she adds some volume and texture to the top of her hair. She could maybe have

some high-layered bangs to add more volume and make whole look softer. Back-combing, a high-shine

finish and a middle or side parting would all add to creating a more fashionable, on-trend look.”

Design and color, a union of creativity in New York. The Color

Factory is a pop-up museum with a limited run. Giancarlo Rapetti

Born during the summer of 2017 in San Francisco, as a month-long experience, the Color Factory

was such a tremendous success that the Californian city ended up hosting the exhibition for nearly a

year before passing it to New York in August 2018, the current location of this temporary “industry”.

Because this fascinating interactive show is an experience unlike any other, conceived as an ephemeral

museum. An “in-and-out” destined to sooner or later change locations, currently a space on

Spring Street in Soho: the celebration of all the colors in the world, structured in 16 environmental

a floating room, and a room conceived by the artist Molly Young where visitors are invited to

discover their “secret” color. And then there is the Manhattan Walk, an outdoor installation that

pays homage to the American metropolis in all its chromatic moods. As the trend of the latest

pop-up museum imposes, limited in time and dedicated to the most eclectic objects, even the Color

Factory flaunts its hybrid nature half-way between show and museum, but with a very precise

mission: create pop icons for a public that is constantly seeking an unforgettable social snapshot.

Icelandic

Extravaganza

The Davines global community comes together in the

evocative Iceland – a magical place of spectacular glaciers,

geysers and infinite stretches of rocky landscape.

This was the location of the World Wide Hair Tour 2019: Reykjavik, the capital of the land of ice and the

northernmost city in the world. A unique place where Davines' global stylists presented their creations on

stage at the spectacular Harpa auditorium. The WWHT was an opportunity to meet creative hairstylists,

exchange trends, ideas and projects as part of an event dedicated to beauty, and to share the values of

respecting nature. In strict adherence to values of the brand, the event focused particularly on the environment,

with guests taking part in a local reforestation project to offset the carbon footprint of their journey.

The absolute winner of the first Nordic Hair Awards was Finnish hairdresser Harri Åkerberg from A.K.A.

Luova who conquered both Nordic Avant-garde Hairdresser of the Year and Nordic Hairdresser of the Year!

Nordic Stars

The very first Nordic Hair Awards and Expo held a fabulous

event in Copenhagen (Denmark) where more than 2,000

hair pros networked, connected and inspired each other.


Nordic Hair Awards' first edition presented a fabulous live competition where 47 finalists from all the Nordic countries took

part in nine different categories. Winners were announced at a crowded award ceremony at Lokomotivværkstedet in

Copenhagen. The biggest winner was Finland who received a total four awards, including the Nordic Hairdresser of the

Year title and Best Avant-Garde award for Harri Åkerberg; Women's Hairdresser of the Year, Aki-Matti Kallio; and Editorial

Stylist of the Year, Linda Lehto. Swedish Johan Kristensen and Sofie Heidenberg won, respectively, Men’s Hairdresser of the

Year and Colour Technician of the Year. Martina Rawet (Norway) was crowned Young Talent of the Year; Park Styling / Hair

Construction Academy (Denmark) won Best Salon Design and Katrin Sif Jónsdóttir is the Icelandic Hairdresser of the Year.

On top of the awards, this one-day

event was packed with 11 hair shows on

Main Stage, 4 intimate shows on Live

Stage, and several mini shows around

the venue. Main Stage shows included

Björn Axén, American Crew and Aveda

of the International

Hairdressing Awards,

the awards of all

awards, will take place

in Ifema, Madrid, on

February 16th 2020.

IHA is

back!

Last year, IHA

winners included Lluís

This year, entries are

open in all categories

for every hairdresser

from all over the world

from June 17th to

September 16th.

Hairdressing Awards have

announced the calendar

of their second edition.

The International

Hairdressing Awards

(IHA) second edition will take

place on February 16th, 2020 in

Madrid, with a glittering show and

awards ceremony. The Awards are

and Salón Look Madrid - Ifema as

All hairdressers from all over the

world can take part by signing up

THE BIG NIGHT IN

MADRID

The great night of global

hairdressing will take place in

Madrid on February 16th, 2020,

when the best hairdressers from

around the world will gather to be

dazzled by great prizes, a purple

carpet (the red carpet of the

hairdressing industry), a runway

show of the main teams of the

world presenting their collections

and a glamorous awards ceremony.

The winners in the five categories

will be revealed that night, selected

from among the fifteen finalists

chosen by a jury made up of five

renowned international

hairdressers. The International

Hairdressing Awards are an

independent company, powered

by hairdressers, founded and

Asia concluded with

event – Color Zoom.

In preparation for this

phenomenal global competition,

local Color Zoom events are held

with members of the Global Color

Zoom team leading workshops and

briefings. This year, “local” artist

Dylan Tung, who earned his

position as a member of the Global

Team as the Gold Winner of Global

Zoom in the Creative Colorist

Category, was in Singapore for an

exclusive challenge briefing session

at the Kao Salon Academy,

illustrating the use of mood boards

and giving live demonstrations for

aspiring participants. The next day

Dylan Tung was joined by the

international Goldwell artist Ken

Hong at the same venue to share

their views on forthcoming trends,

cutting tips, wearable colors and

more. Dylan Tung also launched the

R MIX trends in Shanghai, setting

off the ripple effect of the GCC team

across all of China, stopping in over

20 cities to shed light on the concept

and inspiration of the Color Zoom

R MIX theme in seminars and

demonstrations. The Chinese

Roadshow highlighted how students

nationwide were open to the

concept of the theme as they pulled

out all the stops to work on their

own creative visions.

At the Goldwell Taiwan event,

Dylan Tung was joined by Ivan

Huang, Creative Director of the

prestigious Flux Réel Hair Boutique

to interpret Color Zoom ’19

R MIX theme. Taiwan Color

Zoom Event also featured four

global winners: Evelyn Lo, the

The Zero-Distance

programme was

launched by Feeling

Professional in April

2019 and is already

a success.

The Feeling Professional

Zero-Distance

programme, launched in

April 2019, aimed to

provide professional

training sessions for

salons and the

opportunity to work closely with

master hairstylists in Hong Kong

including Mr. Calvin Chan, Mr.

Calvin Yau and Ms. Zoe Ong.

The first tutorial by Zoe Ong was

held on 27th April in Hair Simply

Salon, Jordan. Zoe shared her

expertise in consultation skills,

techniques for perms, and color.

Although most of participants are

already experienced hair stylists,

the tutorial was envisioned as a

stepping stone to becoming a

master stylist. “A customized

tutorial held by local hair styling

masters is uncommon in Hong

Kong, so it was a rare opportunity

for us...” said co-founder of Hair

Simply Salon, Mr. Ryan.

On 15th May, the second tutorial

was held in Page.1 Hair, MongKok

by Mr. Calvin Chan. Calvin is

well-known as a celebrity hair

stylist, so his communication skills

and extraordinary career tips were

especially appreciated by the

stylists. Calvin demonstrated two

types of hair cut and styling, but

the core of tutorial was to inspire

participants to adapt different

techniques to situations that may

arise in their daily work behind the

chair. “Thanks so much for

Mr. Calvin Chan’s enthusiastic

teaching and Feeling Professional’s

meticulous organization.

The tutorial was unexpectedly

practical, impressive, and

inspirational,” commented

Mr. Kelvin Kan, Founder of Page.

success of these initial test run,

Feeling Professional will be

extending the program of Zero

Distance master stylist training

events to encourage salon
