Getting ready for your photoshoot 

There are a few simple things you can do to help 

both you and your pet have a fun and playful 

session. Here’s some great tips for getting your 

dog into the right state of mind for the session: 

Practice Command & Tricks 

Brush up on any commands your pet knows. 

Whilst it’s not essential for your dog to be 

perfectly trained, a good ‘sit’, ‘stay’ 

and ‘down’ can be really helpful especially if we 

are off lead. 

If you’ve taught any special tricks, give them a 

good practice beforehand so they are fresh in the 

mind of your pet. 

Get Some Exercise 

It’s really important to give your dog some good 

excerise before the session, with a quick walk. 

Please dont wear them out, but a brief walk can 

prevent the dog from bouncing off the walls with 

excitement. It helps avoid any little accidents in 

the studio too. 

GETTING YOURSELF READY 

Animals are super clever. They can read our 

emotions, our demeanour and our attitude. My 

whole attitude to the shoot is that “it’s just a walk 

in the park”, so please dont get upset or worry if 

things aren’t going to plan. 

Go with the flow, and your pets will too. 

Head to the Groomers 

If you have a breed that needs regular trips to the 

groomers, book your session the day before, or 

the morning of your session. Bath-time tends to 

lead to shedding hair, so you’ll want to brush your 

dog just before our session to remove any stray 

hairs. 

Give your pet’s nails a trim to the proper length a 

few days before the shoot, as if they are overgrown, 

they can be really noticeable. 

Most people dont enjoy being photographed, but I 

can assure you that the most precious images in 

years to come, are those of us and our loved 

ones. We’ll make it a lighthearted and fun time, 

I promise. 

Dress for the occasion 

Whether we are outdoors, or in the studio, we 

want the focus to be on our pets, so choosing a 

colour pallete that’s neutral and darker shades will 

help keep the attention on your pets. 

Dress up a bit, it’s a special occasion, but 

remember you are likely to be sat on the grass, or 

on a log. Something timeless, classic and flattering 

is perfect. 

Remember shell suits? Who would want a picture 

of themselves in a fluorescent pink shell suit on 

the wall. Avoid white and bright colours, loud 

patterns or clothing that has large logos. 

Tips for the ladies 

Low cut tops and dresses can lead to embarassing 

wardrobe malfunctions! Remember, we will be 

moving around with your pets and you will be 

leaning down to their level. If you do wear a skirt, 

consider wearing leggings underneath. 

Be like an onion, have layers. 

Layering different colours and textures looks great 

in photographs. Browns, blacks and greys are 

classic and help keep the focus on your pets. Bold 

colours can also be fun when used as accessories, 

but avoid super bright outfits. 

For groups of people, consider tones and colours 

that complement, but avoid everyone matching - 

ie. dont have everyone wear black t-shirts, and 

blue jeans. Find things in your wardrobe to 

compliment. Need help? Just ask.

Your ordering session... where the magic happens 

After your session, normally within 14 days, 

you will be invited back to our Studio for 

your ordering session. 

This is the perfect time for your cinematic 

viewing of your images along with an opportunity 

to see all of our beautiful product 

samples.

your home that could be perfect for your 

images to hang.

About your photographer - Jamie Morgan 

My love-story with dogs started at 6-months old with a Heinz-57, 

whippet cross something-or-other, called Charlie. He’d been rescued 

from a lady in the village where I grew up, a constant in my life until 

my teens. Slowly as I grew fonder, he grew older. 

Having grown up around my Grandparents farm, in a small rural 

community in Kent, my relationship with animals has always been 

strong. Like many people I ended up working in London before 

coming back to my roots. 

Fast forward through life, you quickly come to realise, life has always 

been better when there is a dog in your life. Countless rescue and 

adopted dogs have sadly come and gone and all that has been left is 

photographs. And then the penny dropped. 

Life can be pretty cruel at times, and when tough times hit in 2016, 

my faithful hound pictured above, Harry, was there to keep me going. 

Together we built a new career around dog photography, capturing 

that special bond between man and dog. Sadly, Harry left us 

suddenly in 2018 in a tragic accident and our journey together 

became all the more special. 

If you see us at an event, you will be able to see the beautiful 

products that capture Harry’s memory. Today, I have the privelige of 

capturing those special memories for other pet owners. 

That fresh start has led to many new adventures, including winning 

Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the Year, public speaking 

engagements and most importantly, our new sighthound puppy, a 

Lurcher called Phoenix.
