<strong>Jean</strong>-René André started his musical appprenticeship as a chorister<br />

with the c<strong>at</strong>hedral’s choirmaster of Rennes. After his organ debut<br />

with MGR Yves Legrand, the c<strong>at</strong>hedral’s organist, he performed with<br />

Gérard Letellier and Francine Guiberteau in Le Mans’ conserv<strong>at</strong>oire<br />

(gold medal in 1988) and then with Susan Landale in Rueil<br />

Malmaison’s conserv<strong>at</strong>oire (virtuosity prize in 1992).<br />

He followed Daniel Roth’s advice on improvis<strong>at</strong>ion for a year. In 1993,<br />

he was chosen as organ titular of Rennes C<strong>at</strong>hedral. He is an<br />

accompanist, organ teacher and a composer in the Centre d’Art<br />

Choral of Rennes.<br />

At the end of 2016, he became the coordin<strong>at</strong>or of music in<br />

Rennes’c<strong>at</strong>hedral. Liturgy, holy texts and his n<strong>at</strong>ive land are the main<br />

inspir<strong>at</strong>ion sources of his composing work.<br />
