Our journey from the beginning
Kumpulan Abex Sdn Bhd ( 167376 - M) otherwise known as KABEX takes pride as one of
the pioneering home grown companies in Malaysia to focus on Photonics related
products and solutions . Our immense experience in product development, engineering,
manufacturing and assembly together with our profound philosophy enabled us to
oversee the market directions and commitments .
As we grow, our business focus diverged into various market segmentations . Aside from
photonics, we’ve invested into security and automation as part of our solutions .
With the wide variety of solutions and products, we have successfully build and grow our
robust database and determine to meet the demands of our local and overseas market .
We have always been determine to fulfil the growing needs and requirements of our
customers and never stopped our focus to source for new potentials and products .
We’ve made a bold move in year 2013 by opening our 1 st regional operation office, Abex
Technologies Co . , Ltd in Bangkok, Thailand . This is a joint venture with one of our
Thailand associate companies, Thai Industech Co . , Ltd . In other countries like Vietnam
and Singapore, we operate our business thru our associates companies’ channels .
2018 is the year we’ve officially set - up our branch office in the north based in Bayan
Lepas, Penang .

OUR MILESTONES

1988
Partnered with ANDO Electric Co. for optical instruments and with Sumitomo Electric
Industries for fusion splicer distributorship in Malaysia.
1995
Started building security and automation product portfolio.
1997
Setup in house assembly capability for barrier gate.
1998
Expanded product range to R&D sectors for scientific and photonics products.
2006
Received Sumitomo’s authorised service centre status to service and repair Sumitomo’s
fusion splicer and cleaver in Malaysia.
2007 - 8
Partnered with EXFO for fiber optics tests/network/copper equipment distributorship
in Malaysia.
2009 - 11
Received Technofund Grant from MOSTI for product development in collaboration with local
university; started TM HSBB pilot project at Shah Alam, USJ and TTDI.
2012
Received Type Approval from TM for passive components and setup in house
connector termination line.
2013
Received FTTH Council APAC Certification to provide training on FTTH; established
regional presence in South Eash Asia.
2015
Awarded multi - millions contracts for Pagoh Education Hub as Turnkey.
2016
Partnered with Spectra Physics for Lasers in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. We were
awarded for 2016 APAC Best CVC and 2016 APAC Best Growth Distributor Award by
Newport Corporation.
2017
Partnered with FiberQA SEA region. We also expand the partners for Malaysia with Rohde &
Schwarz, Reichle+De - Massari and IBwave for Malaysia market.
2018
Partnered with Trimble and Spirent.

Graduated with a B.Eng. (Hons) Electrical &
Electronics major in Communications, he has
been with the company for more than 18
years. Over the years, he invigorated KABEX
with new products and technologies. This in
turn expanded the company’s full potential to
its new peak in the sector of industrial,
scientific and telecommunication industry.
With his determined dedication and passion,
he has never stopped but continuously
providing excellent services and solutions to
our customers.

TELECOMMUNICATION
Back in the 1980s, we started with optical and
telecom test instruments. Over the years, we
attained new partnerships and extend our
products and solutions to support telecom
applications by providing test equipment for
FTTx, Submarine, Wifi, 4G/5G, IoT, 100G,
VDSL, DWDM, CWDM, CRAN and FIber
Monitoring. In 2011, we developed our own
house brand - Photonicshome TM (PH®) to
provide active/passive materials like PLC,
fIber cable, inter-connect, copper cable,
basic optical test tools, consumers, ODN,
transceivers and media converter.

we have expanded our range further cater
for research and training in electronics, RF,
5G IoT, EMC, automotive and now cyber
security.

solar, wafer inspection, laser measurement,
