Fulton Hogan has confirmed the additional information requested by Environment Canterbury and the Selwyn District Council on its proposed Roydon Quarry will be provided by August 16. The information is required in order for the councils to complete a section 42A report. The report, Jolene Eagar which will discuss the submissions on the quarry and recommend whether the resource consent should be granted or not, will be made available by September 2. The two councils had requested information on the volume of groundwater which would be extracted annually from the quarry, birdstrike mitigations, an update on draft conditions to reflect proposed mitigation and noise mitigation. The hearing process does not have to be completed until January 23. The hearing will commence on November 18. The Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board is set to make a decision on the 20 yearlease at its meeting today. WATER CHLORINATION Drinking water in Riccarton will continue to be treated with a low dose of chlorine (0.2 parts per million) until the well-head upgrades can be officially signed off. The city council previously expected to end chlorine treatment across the city by the end of July as part of its wellhead upgrades programme.
