As we embark on a new phase of digital
transformation, we also aim to commit
ourselves to a greater degree of
employee engagement in SATS Security/
This quarterly newsletter is a humble
attempt by SSS media & publicity team
to achieve that objective. In the spirit of
celebrating efforts and encouraging
excellence, this newsletter will highlight
exemplary work and prestigious
achievements of SSS officers.

THE ONLY WAY IS UP
SATS APF PROMOTION CEREMONY 2019
28 June 2019 shall be a memorable day for over 80 promoted officers. Held at ICC1 Multi-Purpose Hall, this happy
Promotion Ceremony was graced by our General Manger, Vice-President (VP) Willy Ko., This year also saw the highest
number of proud family members, friends and colleagues of the promoted Auxiliary Police Officers (APO), all
gathered together to celebrate their successes and to recognize their hard work.
SATS APF Commander, Deputy Assistant
Commissioner (DAC) of Police Lawrence Tham
took the stage to address the audience. In his
moving address, Commander reminded the
officers on the importance of leadership, courage
and teamwork, went on to commend three
officers for their bravery and selflessness while
carrying out their duties. These officers were
Sergeant (SGT) Thilip Kumar A/L Krishnan,
Corporal (CPL) Jusari Saptu and Lance Corporal
(LCP) Rogini A/P Nadason. Commander shared
that he strongly believes in servant leadership and
reminded the promoted officers, to remember to
care for one another as they don their new ranks.
During the event, the audience were also treated
to a short video on SATS Security new tech tools
that are in the pipeline. The many exciting include
Body Worn Camera, Digitalization of Meal Cart
Documents, Bulk Hold Surveillance Camera, Cabin
Surveillance Camera
and Flight Data and Activities Tracking System
(FDAT).
The event ended with the launch of SATS APF new
safety vest. The launch of the safety vest marks
another milestone in our Digital Transformation
journey, as it serves as a load-bearing vest that
can accommodate the array of smart devices and
equipment that the officers will have to carry to
don to execute their tasks. In addition, it also looks
more appealing, well-cut and exudes an
nforcement vibe for our officers!

DRESSED TO THE NINES
SSS NEW SAFETY VEST
The new safety vest is not just another vest. The entire creation process was initiated in January 2018 and started with
the objective of producing a Safety Vest with a more ‘enforcement’ look, and to also double up as a ‘load-bearing’ vest
to house wearable technologies n the future.
The team placed much thought had been put into the design and obtained feedback from officers to ensure comfort of
the officers. Besides ensuring that all future equipment can be placed properly on the vest, the team also had to ensure
the design met the criteria of being a Safety Vest with the required luminosity.
The final design was derived after a journey of 1.5 years and 7 different prototypes.
The end result is not just an aesthetically-pleasing vest but more importantly, a comfortable, light and ventilated vest
which also ensured that it does not obstruct the utility belt, the wearable technologies and even down to the small ‘D’
ring to attach the pass holder.
As of 1 July 2019, all SSS officers now don this cool safety vest and walk the "runway" more dashing than ever!

sense of mutual commitment creates synergy,
thus generating performance greater than the
sum of the performance of its individual
members. Thus teams of game players can
form (and re-form) to practise their
craft/sport. Transport logistics executives can
select teams of horses, dogs, or oxen for the
purpose of conveying passengers or goods.
Theorists in business in the late 20th century
popularized the concept of constructing
teams. Differing opinions exist on the efficacy
of this new management fad.
THE MOST POPULAR TEAM THIS FALL
Some see "team" as a four-letter word: overused
and under-useful. Others see it as a panacea that
realizes the human-relations movement's desire to
integrate what that movement perceives as best
for workers and as best for managers. Still others
believe in the effectiveness of teams, but also see
them as dangerous because of the potential for
exploiting workers — in that team effectiveness
can rely on peer pressure and peer surveillance.
However, Hackman argued that team effectiveness
should not be viewed only in terms of
performance. While performance is an important
outcome, a truly effective team will contribute to
the personal well-being and adaptive growth of its
members.
