EC 470 Senior Project in Economics (1)<br />
An independent research project that brings to bear the student’s accumulated knowledge<br />
and skills in economics. Students should initiate this project in the fall term of their senior<br />
year during the senior research seminar. Prerequisites: EC 460 and senior standing.<br />

An exploration of a selected topic or problem in education.<br />
ED 201 Introduction to Education (1)<br />
This course provides an overview of American education in both public and private<br />
settings. Students consider multiple aspects of education, including teaching as a<br />
profession, historical foundations of education, philosophical foundations of education,<br />
trends and issues in schools and teaching, issues of diversity and multicultural education,<br />
and the future of education. In addition, numerous social (quality of life) issues of<br />
importance to teachers, students, and society in general are addressed. Fall, Spring.<br />
ED 210 WR Curriculum Design (1)<br />
Introduces the principles of curriculum design and development, including learning<br />
theory, instructional strategies, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment<br />
approaches; and process, determinants, and organization of curricula found in public and<br />
private schools. This course includes working with children with special needs. A<br />
Writing Reinforcement and Leadership Studies designated course. Prerequisite: at least<br />
one year of college coursework. Spring.<br />
ED 219 CE Creative Arts in Teaching (1)<br />
Provides pre-service teachers with techniques for integrating music, art, drama, and<br />
movement into classroom instruction in grades K-6. A Creative Expression designated<br />
course. Prerequisite: at least one year of college coursework. Fall.<br />

Directed study for advanced students in the major. Specific guidelines concerning<br />
