EC 470 Senior Project in Economics (1)
An independent research project that brings to bear the student’s accumulated knowledge
and skills in economics. Students should initiate this project in the fall term of their senior
year during the senior research seminar. Prerequisites: EC 460 and senior standing.

ED 177, 277, 377, 477 Special Topics in Education (1)
An exploration of a selected topic or problem in education.
ED 201 Introduction to Education (1)
This course provides an overview of American education in both public and private
settings. Students consider multiple aspects of education, including teaching as a
profession, historical foundations of education, philosophical foundations of education,
trends and issues in schools and teaching, issues of diversity and multicultural education,
and the future of education. In addition, numerous social (quality of life) issues of
importance to teachers, students, and society in general are addressed. Fall, Spring.
ED 210 WR Curriculum Design (1)
Introduces the principles of curriculum design and development, including learning
theory, instructional strategies, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment
approaches; and process, determinants, and organization of curricula found in public and
private schools. This course includes working with children with special needs. A
Writing Reinforcement and Leadership Studies designated course. Prerequisite: at least
one year of college coursework. Spring.
ED 219 CE Creative Arts in Teaching (1)
Provides pre-service teachers with techniques for integrating music, art, drama, and
movement into classroom instruction in grades K-6. A Creative Expression designated
course. Prerequisite: at least one year of college coursework. Fall.

Directed study for advanced students in the major. Specific guidelines concerning

An internship opportunity allowing students to practice career skills and/or further
develop abilities beneficial for graduate study. Specific guidelines concerning internships

A teaching experience course. Specific guidelines concerning teaching experiences
