Dear Ambassadair Guests,
Sharing the world and all its wonder with you has been at the core of the Grueninger
Travel Group. We have taken you to every corner of this planet and helped you see so
much of its beauty. As you know, it is more imperative than ever that we take care of this
wondrous land so our children and our children’s children are able to experience the same
extraordinary places.
From those travel-size plastic bottles on our hotel bathroom counter, to long-haul flights,
and even hotel laundry services, the travel industry accounts for 8 percent of the world’s
greenhouse gases. While certainly not a great statistic, it doesn’t mean we need to stay
home. It does mean, however, we should work to minimize the environmental impact
of our travels. At Grueninger Travel Group, we are committed to making our trips more
sustainable and responsible.
Our leading travel partners are working diligently to reduce carbon footprints. For
example, Holland America Line has adopted a policy to not throw waste overboard and
to run wastewater through two filtration systems before it goes back to the ocean. It
has also installed low-flow shower heads. All of American Airlines electricity in its DFW
headquarters now comes from renewable sources. United Airlines is working to reducing
50 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, investing in sustainable fuel, and
eliminating single-use plastic stirring sticks. Delta’s decision to stop using plastic wrap on
its in-flight amenity kits alone is saving 14 tons of plastic from going to the landfill. Marriott,
Denver International Airport, Disney Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Boston Logon
Airport, and so many others are committed to shrinking respective carbon footprints.
What can you do to travel responsibly?
Dispose of trash responsibly. use refillable water bottles, keep the air conditioning low or
off while you are out of your room, and use the same towels and linens throughout your
stay. Wear your clothing several times as less weight means less airline fuel and less water
used to wash. Carry a lightweight reusable bag for shopping to reduce plastic.
Don’t buy products made from endangered species, old-growth hardwoods and shells or
coral from the beach or ocean. DO support the local economy by purchasing souvenirs and
products that show off the talents of the local craftspeople. And while we want to travel off
the beaten path, do stay on trails and in designated areas as to not destroy fragile habitats
or be disruptive to wildlife.
These are small changes, but ones that can help make big differences. This is our world.
We want to take care of it, and continue to explore its wonders. This latest copy of Trips
magazine is full of some of those wonderful places. It is time for you to explore - start
planning your adventure today!
Best,
Mount Rushmore National Memorial features the faces
of four great American presidents who represent the
founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of our
country. Towering 5,725 feet above sea level, the 60-foot faces
took 14 years to create. But the presidents’ faces aren’t the only
oversized aspects of South Dakota — everything seems bigger
and more robust, from the broad blue sky to the bison that roam
the Black Hills. Take an off-road Jeep tour in search of herds of
buffalo and eat cowboy-style at a chuck wagon cookout in Custer
State Park. Glide over rugged landscape aboard a vintage steam
train, like those that helped settle the American West. Discover
the story of the Western Great Plains, and get a unique view from
the bottom of the world’s largest mountain carving, Crazy Horse
Memorial. See the dramatic and surreal landscape of Badlands
National Park, and view the inspirational lighting ceremony at
Mount Rushmore.
or omissions on the part of any of the suppliers or other
employees or agents, (2) any defect in or failure of any
vehicle, equipment, or instrument owned, operated
or otherwise used by any of these suppliers, or (3) any
wrongful, willful or negligent act or omission on the
part of any other party. Without limiting the foregoing,
Grueninger accepts no responsibility for any risk or
resulting injury, criminal activity, weather or other acts of
God, accidents, disease, epidemics or the threat thereof,
illness, the provision of inappropriate or no medical
attention or access to appropriate medical attention, the
demands of indoor or outdoor activities, strikes, political
or civil unrest, overbooking, structural or other defective
conditions in hotels or other lodging facilities, acts of
terrorism or the threat thereof, insurrection or revolt, or
any other event beyond its direct control.
No refunds will be made for features in the trip not
utilized. The cost of replacing lost or stolen tickets is the
responsibility of the passenger. If a flight or transfer by
motorcoach or train is missed, whether by weather or
other conditions beyond Grueninger’s control, participant
is responsible to make his or her own arrangements and
to pay all charges associated therewith. Participant’s
retention of tickets, reservations, or bookings after
issuance shall constitute consent to the above. Grueninger
issues airline tickets, hotel confirmations, and other
travel documents for such services as an agent for the
companies that provided these services directly. Airline
tickets and hotel accommodations are subject to all terms
and conditions of the respective suppliers (airlines, hotel
chains, etc.) regarding travel. These suppliers may limit or
exclude the accrual of frequent flyer or reward program
points.
you review them. They can presently be found at: https://
