Dear Patrons,
Welcome to the Autumn Season
at The SandPit Theatre, which promises
to be an exciting season offering
something for everyone with a great
variety of shows, events and workshops.
We are thrilled to be bringing back
Paddleboat Theatre Company for their
brand new family show,
Clare Hollingworth and the Scoop of
the Century, based on the true story of
one of the most important writers of our
time, filled with daring, intrigue and an
invasion that would rock the world!
We are also thrilled to be bringing
St Albans, the acclaimed “Fantastic,
Farcical, Fun...” production of The
Hound of the Baskervilles: The Hit
Farce as part of their second national
tour! This is sure to be a hilarious night
out as two fearless actors play every role
in this fast paced farce!
Christmas is quickly approaching and
when Darcey wakes up on Christmas
morning, she finds a sparkly tree, a
stocking full of presents and a Reindeer
on the Roof! Hodgepodge Theatre
present a magical Christmas show for
the whole family!

THE LITTLE DIGGERS
The ‘Little Diggers’ is the
SandPit’s scheme for
children, with theatre
performances, workshops
and film screenings aimed
specifically for 3-8yr olds
and their families.
We aim to engage young people in the
arts through affordable, exciting events
they can enjoy, and often participate
in. The scheme includes performances
from a wide variety of styles - ranging
from nationally renowned theatre
companies to local intimate
performances from Hertfordshire’s best
theatre makers, well-known film
releases to small arts and crafts
workshops. Participation can vary
from meeting the theatre characters
for a photograph, to making their own
puppets to take home after a puppetry
performance, or getting stuck in with
our themed crafts workshops!
Little Digger shows are recognisable by
the logo which is displayed on the
posters, making it easy for parents to
see which performances are suitable.

The Legend of the Lost Library
Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th October
6pm (Sat), 12pm & 4pm (Sun)
Showcasing a variety of song and dance
numbers of all styles, with a sparkling array of
colourful costumes. The audience is taken on
a great adventure into the future to be part of
this mysterious Legend.
An exciting new play and dazzling production
for their talented students ranging in age
from 3 to adults.

Exhibition on Screen - Leonardo: The Works
Sunday 10th November 3:00pm
Marking the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death: for the first time ever, all of Leonardo’s
paintings will be shown on the big screen.
Leonardo da Vinci is acclaimed as the world’s favourite artist. Many TV shows and feature films
have showcased this extraordinary genius but often not examined closely enough is the most
crucial element of all: his art. Leonardo’s peerless paintings and drawings will be the focus of
Leonardo: The Works, as EXHIBITION ON SCREEN presents every single attributed painting on
the big screen.

OCTOBER HALF TERM
Booster Cushion Theatre presents
Goldilocks and the Three Bears Plus......
Tuesday 29th October 11:30am
This comical story is retold through a massive 6ft tall book
complete with pop ups and props coming out of the book!
Big Goldilocks wanders off from her parents into the
forest but soon gets lost, getting hungry, grumpy and tired.
The forest animals decide to escape before she gets even
more grumpy on an Animal Rescue Centre which flies high
throughout the skies! Goldilocks arrives at the Three Bears
house for a big bowl of cereal but soon it’s up to the
audience to help scare her away…
Ideal for 4 to 8 year olds and their families

NOVEMBER
Welwyn Harmony and
The Kings of Herts presents
An Evening of
Musical Delight
Friday 29th & Saturday 30th November
7:30pm
Come and enjoy the beautiful A Cappella
singing of Welwyn Harmony ladies and the
men of Kings of Herts for an evening of songs
old and new, with a seasonal twist.
Hear Welwyn Harmony celebrate 30 years of
joyous singing along with the Kings of Herts,
who have been singing for 33 years, and
join in the after show fun in the bar with both
choruses.

End of Year Showcase
and Awards
Sunday 1st December 3:00pm
SW-Dance present an afternoon full of fun
and dance with students performing a range
of choreography from the streetdance,
contemporary and freestyle genres.
The afternoon will conclude with the infamous
golden envelope awards, which is a fantastic
opportunity to celebrate and recognise the
amazing talent within SW-DANCE.

Work Experience here at The SandPit Theatre
Here at The SandPit Theatre we offer work experience to all young people looking for a week’s
work placement in the arts. During the placement you will take part in multiple activities varying
from training on equipment, operating lighting and sound, theatre maintenance and learning how
the day to day operations of the theatre work. This opportunity is open to all students from Year
10 through 13 and also includes students studying at college due to the nature of the work.

We are introducing relaxed screenings across our arts films
What does a relaxed screening mean?
- The volume of the film is slightly lowered
- The low level lights are left on
- You are free to move about and make noise or leave at any point
- You are welcome to bring your own food & drink

Today it is reported that a young, intrepid Tickets: journalist £8 crossed & £6 over the border
from Poland to Germany. There, she Family saw something Ticket (4 that people) would £24 change her
life and history forever…
It’s Christmas morning and Darcey wakes up to a sparkly tree, a stocking full of presents
and a Reindeer on the roof!
Why is the Reindeer here? Shouldn’t it be with Santa and all the other Reindeer? Is it lost? Without
the other Reindeer and Santa’s sleigh, how will it ever get home? Join Darcey on her epic
adventure to get her new Reindeer friend back to Lapland where he belongs and discover the true
meaning of Christmas along the way…
A magical Chritmas show coming this year to The SandPit Theatre performed by Hodgepodge
Theatre Company, this show is a relaxed family show aimed at ages 3+, perfect to bring a bit of
affordable Christmas magic to the season!

Fri 11:30am - 3:30pm), or by visiting
the theatre in person.
GETTING HERE AND PARKING
Location: The SandPit Theatre is
situated in the grounds of
Sandringham School, approximately a
1.5 mile walk from St.Albans City train
station and the town centre where there
are several bus routes.
Parking: The school car park is
available and free, but does get very
busy. There are 2 main car parks, the
first entered by the main gate, the second
entered by the top gate (marked
deliveries) and an overflow car park to
the rear of the theatre. If the car park
is full, the majority of the surrounding
residential roads are all free parking.
ACCESSIBILITY
We aim to offer our disabled
customers the same experiences as all
other people.
Our front row is floor level and reserved
for customers with access
requirements. These seats can be
purchased over the phone or in person.
Customers can also buy a companion’s
seat at the same rate.
For non-allocated performances, if you
have a disability that requires specific
seats, please do contact us. For
allocated performances we reserve the
front row for those with access needs
and a companion.
Assistance dogs are welcome.

The maximum booking fee you will be
charged when booking online is £4.50.
Optional postage is
included on all bookings unless
otherwise stated.

OTHER INFORMATION
Babes in Arms: The SandPit
Theatre encourages access for all. An
infant aged below 2 years, will need
to be accomodated on the parent or
carer’s lap as no seat will be allocated.
There will be no charge for this.
Condition of Sale: We will
‘exchange’ tickets for another
performance to the same value or give
a credit note to redeem against a show
in the future.
The ‘no refunds policy’ remains the
same; patrons are requested to check
their tickets at the time of purchase.
Tickets for sell-out shows may be
accepted by the Box Office for
resale on behalf of the customer but
no responsibility is accepted nor sale
guaranteed. Any tickets sold on will be
given a credit note to redeem against a
show in the future.
Please note the booking fee and
transaction fee are non-refundable
under any circumstances; this includes
the cancellation of a show.
Please note credit is held for a
maximum of 24 months.
