CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
S
pring has come for a while! I gather the visit to Ardmore was great. Other things
are getting in my way at the moment, but with help I can carry on, although not
attending as regularly as I would want.
This month’s theme is messages from the President (not of the USA).
Diane Quarrie has written thanking all the branches contributing to the National Rally for
Cancer. The Club raised $75,000 this year. One branch raised $17,500, but our contribution
for a small branch is commendable. So, thank you again.
I told you last month about the “Rebranding” work that has started. Those of you who
came to the club night saw the presentation we had at the AGM. It was just a starter. Nothing
agreed, just what could be done to bring our livery into the 21 st Century. It was the only
time at the AGM that I felt there was any enthusiasm to move forward. I will say, however,
that whilst helpful to portray the Club to younger people and the public, there needs to be
a more forward-thinking approach to how the Club functions as a whole. The Remit passed
in Greymouth was a backward step to my mind, but you may have other views. That’s
what democracy is about. If anyone would like to view her presentation, I can Email a copy
to you.
So that is the small stuff: may our branch move forward to the summer as we have started.
Interesting Sunday Runs, convivial get-togethers, and shiny cars. I hope the weather will be
OK for our contribution to Summerset Falls activities and the Kowhai Festival: see you
there.
Happy and Safe Motoring
