Friday Service: Dr Jawad Ahmad, at
great sacrifice, has taken time off on
Fridays to enable him to travel to
Wembley from Milton Keynes to
help with Friday service. He has
kindly agreed to share the duties of
delivering the Friday khutbas. We
pray that Allah rewards him for this
sacrifice.
Resignation from the Management
Committee and new
appointment.
Mr. Nasir Ahmad, a veteran member
and an ex-editor of The Light has
resigned from the Committee due to
ill health. We thank him for his long
and dedicated service to the Jamaat.
He has been replaced by Dr Jawad
Ahmad and we welcome him.

interfaith conference which was
going to take place in New Delhi in
December. The reason for postponement
was the current tension
between India and Pakistan and the
closure of the land border and
airspace between the two countries.
We pray that these tensions ease
and that we are able to hold the
conference soon.

it was transferred to the National
Archive of Germany. Dr. Gerdien
Jonker and I took material to the
National Archive. Material was

mosque. Al-hamdu-lillah, our
material is in safe hands and will be
digitized first and later uploaded to

Eid ul Adha:
11th August: Eid ul Adha was
celebrated. Muslims from Germany,
Holland, Africa, Afghanistan, Syria,
Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, Yemen, Iraq
Ukraine and Suriname participated.
I am grateful to Mr and Mrs. Yasir
Aziz from Portugal and Ms. Galida
Badoella from Suriname who
specially came to Berlin and helped
in arranging the Eid programme.
19th August: my brother Abid Aziz
also visited the mosque after attending
convention in UK. He stayed for a
week and helped.
Visitors from USA:
22nd August: Mr. and Mrs. Zafar
Abdullah from the USA visited the
mosque. They stayed for three days
and attended the Friday prayer. It
was very nice to host this very lively
couple.
Ms. Galida Badoella from Suriname
and Ms. Gowsia Saleem from India
visited Berlin Mosque and helped us
a lot in organizing open days.
Hazrat Ameer visit: 31st August:
Hazrat Ameer arrived after attending
the UK convention and a
successful trip to Holland. He stayed
in Berlin for 15 days and we benefited
from his precious presence.
Details of his visit will be presented
in September report.
Woman in the Holy
Quran and the Bible

(Note: Brother Pikaso took the baiat
and joined the Lahore Ahmadiyya
Movement a few months ago. He
actively propagates Islam and
encourages Muslims to join the
Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement. Here
he gives his reasons for preferring
the Holy Quran to the Bible. This was
written as a rebuttal to Islamophobic
diatribe that he was
subjected to in the US when he
embraced Islam. His purpose was to
show that if attacked Islam need not
be defensive because there is much
in the Books of other religions that
may be used to attack them. But such
attacks do not further the cause of
harmony in a society. As the
Promised Messiah put in his petition
to the Viceroy of India, when asking
for a ‘hate-law’, followers of each
religion should concentrate on
presenting the beauties of their
religion rather than attack others.
The criticism of other religions
should be in moderate language and
care should be taken to make sure
that it does not hurt the feelings of
those following it. Sadly, it took
another century for his proposal
about hate-speech to be legislated.)
The reason I chose the Quran over
the Bible was because of the lack of
basic human rights in the Bible,
especially women’s rights. If I had to
follow one by the letter, word by
word, I will go with what is more
humane for all races and sexes.
1. The Bible says: “the birth of a
daughter is a loss”. (Ecclesiasticus
22:3). The Qur’an says both are an
equal blessing (Qur’an 42:49).
2. The Bible forbids women from
speaking in church. (I Corinthians
14:34-35). The Qur’an says women
can argue with the Prophet (Qur’an
58:1).
3. A divorced woman, in the
Bible, is labelled as an adulteress,
not the man (Matthew 5:31-32). The
Qur’an does not have Biblical double
standards (Qur’an 30:21).
4. In the Bible, widows and sisters
do not inherit any property or
wealth, only men do (Numbers 27:1-
11). The Qur’an abolished this male
greediness (Qur’an 4:22), and God
protects all.
5. The Bible allows multiple
wives. (I Kings 11:3). In the Quran
God limits the number to 4 only
under certain situations (with the
wife’s permission) and prefers that
you marry only one wife (Quran
4:3). The Quran gives the woman the
right to choose who to marry.
NOTE: Nowhere in the Bible does it
forbid polygamy or say that the male
must marry one woman. Single
marriage is a Greco-Roman tradition
– one of the many influences on the
true teachings of Jesus. Jesus lived
for 33 years among a nation that
practiced polygamy, and he never
prohibited, nor even ever talked
about it in his teachings.
6. “If a man happens to meet a
virgin who is not pledged to be
married and rapes her and they are
discovered, he shall pay the girl’s
father fifty shekels of silver. He must
marry the girl, for he has violated
her. He can never divorce her as long
as he lives” (Deuteronomy 22:28-
30). One must ask a simple question
here: Who is punished? The man
who raped the woman or the woman
who was raped? According to the
Bible, she have to spend the rest of
her life with the man who raped her
and therefore had low morals.
However, even before the marriage,
women in Islam are given right to
choose their husband, and they can
even reject if they are forced to
marry somebody. In a hadith
narrated by Aisha’, the Prophet said,
“It is essential to have the consent of
a virgin (for the marriage)”.
7. The Bible says that women
were the original sinners (i.e. Eve
picking from the forbidden tree)
(Genesis 2:4-3:24). The Qur’an
clarifies that it was both Adam and
Eve at fault, equally. Both the man
and woman were equally to blame.
Thus, in Islam there is equality in
rights as well as blame.
