Speaking after the race, Martin said: “We came into the weekend with both everything to lose and everything to gain, so today’s approach was about getting the job done correctly and making sure we went past the 70 per cent race distance mark in order to score the points we needed. “I am, of course, delighted with the Championship win and, now it’s over, am looking forward to tonight’s celebrations. Driving with Kelvin this season with the Beechdean AMR team has been fantastic and today’s TAKING TOP HONOURS ON THE PODIUM result is testament to that. I’d like to thank all of our sponsors for their wonderful support and we look forward to working together again next season.” Kelvin added: “It was such a relief to hand the car over first in class; for the last six laps my tyres were rapidly dying on me and all I wanted to do was bring it home. Like Martin, I was completely focused on a clean and safe race to secure the Championship so was perhaps more conservative than I have been at other races this season. But it paid off because we won! I couldn’t be happier and what a wonderful journey it’s been!
