Statement of Intent:
The Mississippi Nurses’ Association has paved the way for nurses to
provide safe, quality care for patients in our state. With thirteen years’
experience, I am passionate about the nursing field. I have special
interest in advanced practice nursing, specifically training new nurse
practitioners. While I am proud of the progress we have made through
the Political Action Committee, I know that there remains much work to
be done. We as nurses must remain unified in our efforts, and advocate
for our profession to meet the healthcare needs of Mississippians. The
issues that we as a state face seem daunting: we stand with some of
the highest rates of diabetes, obesity, infant mortality, cardiovascular
disease, and mental health disparities nationwide. However, I believe
that we can do better, that our patients deserve better. That is why it is
so important to be involved in organizations like MNA who are leading
the charge on behalf of nurses, and those we serve.
Holding an elected position within Mississippi Nurses’ Association
would be an honor, and a privilege. While I am aware of many of the
issues at hand, it is my desire to increase my own knowledge, and
have the opportunity to create change. If elected to the Committee
on Nominations, it is my promise to do all that I can to further the
mission and values of MNA, and its members. By nominating capable,
motivated, and knowledgeable nurses, we as an organization will
continue to lead the way for nurses in our state to provide patient
centered care, thereby improving outcomes statewide. I look forward to
serving our organization, our members, and our state.
