Welcome to the first edition of D'KOR 

HOME magazine! 

In this issue, we’re featuring inspiring home 

decor projects produced by a Plano, Texas 

award-winning design firm. Both Houzz and 

Home Advisor awarded our featured designer, 

“Best Service” and “Best Design.” On these 

pages, you'll see the design work of Dee Frazier, 

the creative mastermind and project managing 

wonder woman behind Dee Frazier Interiors. 

Recently, Decorating Den Interiors awarded Dee 

Franchise of the Year. The homes featured in 

this issue are ALL right here in the great state of 

Texas! It’s evident that Dee's "design signature" 

is not about a specific color or style. Her proven

OPPOSITES 

ATTRACT 

NATURAL HUES WITH BLUES. 

Opposites may attract, but 

sometimes they clash. It’s not 

uncommon for Dee Frazier Interiors 

(DFI) designers to be asked to provide 

“design therapy.” In a room with a 

built-in 150-gallon aquarium, complete 

with alternating teal and blue lights, as 

a focal point, a husband and wife had 

very different preferences in terms of 

color palette. 

Before consulting with Dee and her 

team, they purchased a couple of 

neutral and yellow upholstered chairs, 

and furniture that was under scaled 

for the room. To solve their color 

differences, DFI designers added a 

splash of golden honeysuckle paint 

inside the coffered ceiling squares and 

on the faux linen draperies to provide 

balance and give her a dose of color. 

Removing the understated lap siding 

from the fireplace was also a must. 

DFI’s trusted mason came to the 

rescue. Stacking local natural stone 

gave the family room a deep-rooted, 

traditional Texas feel. With the 

saltwater fish serving as live art, the 

gunmetal and gold sculptured panels 

perfectly accent the wall without 

distracting from the fishtank focal

point. To fill out the space, additional 

furnishings and a beautiful, new 

square, silver leaf cocktail table along 

with small clover style ottomans for 

additional seating were added, to 

completing both the room’s look and 

function. Teal and blue accent vases 

and accessories gave her more of the 

color she wanted and balanced the 

aquarium’s tones.

Balancing HIS & HER Style 

with Calm Serenity 

To further balance the homeowner’s opposite tastes 

in color, Dee Frazier and her design team omitted the 

honeysuckle hues used in the family room in other areas 

of the home. The honeysuckle palette was replaced 

with deep, neutral grays and pale blue hues. The water 

theme continues, however, in a glass sculpture on the 

round foyer table flanked by two slate gray chairs. 

The stairwell wall that once begged for art now makes 

a strong visual statement. Panel moulding and lily pad 

sculptures continue the discrete nature theme loved 

by the homeowners. Hanging the draperies well above 

the window line, just under the paneled stair moulding 

draws the eye up.

Carrying the cool blues 

outside to the pool 

area, was a natural fit. To 

give our “opposites attract” 

homeowners a virtual 

walkthrough of the space 

before continuing color, 

placement, and product 

selections, we created a 

comprehensive design using 

3D rendering technology. After 

seeing the details — from 

the furnishings and fabrics 

to the jacuzzi — brought to 

life in three dimensions, the 

husband conceded on the 

color issue. Not only does 3D 

rendering save clients time 

and money by streamlining 

selections and preventing 

additional construction costs 

related to initial decisions that 

are later regretted, it can also 

save relationships!

Whether it’s a move across town or across the country, 

relocating can be stressful. Dee Frazier Interiors helps 

alleviate that stress by communicating with clients via live video 

conferences, giving detailed presentations, and expediting the 

mailing of samples to ensure that the cherished lifestyle a family is 

leaving is replicated or even improved upon in their new home. 

While the phrase “man’s best friend” is often applied to dogs, it’s 

safe to say that furnishings, fabrics, and rugs don’t have the same 

opinion of them. When a client with dogs recently moved from 

California to Texas, Dee and team included performance fabrics and 

highly durable surfaces in the design to ensure mom’s stress was 

reduced. Knowing that materials from the Decorating Den Interiors 

LIVV Collection would be her ally in the neverending battle against 

table rings and pet paw scratches gave her tremendous peace of 

mind. So did her confidence that DFI would oversee the smallest of 

details to ensure the house was quickly transformed into a home.

...OF DEEP SEA DIVING 

When receiving the request from a daughter to 

help her recently widowed mother, Dee Frazier 

Interiors designers quickly discovered the mom’s 

passion for scuba diving. The curved stairwell wall had 

once been blank and considered a challenge until DFI 

presented an idea inspired by the client’s art collection. 

Incorporating the homeowner’s love of blue hues and 

scuba diving, the team came up with a design that is a 

hit with DFI’s online followers and a favorite of the client.

Transition 

to Retirement 

When Dee Frazier and her team design for 

retirees, they love taking a trip down memory 

lane with them. Projects that involve helping retirees 

update their homes and prepare to do lots of 

entertaining in retirement are a favorite of Dee, Lori and 

the rest of the DFI design team. Not knowing what to 

keep and how to transition beloved keepsakes into an 

updated space, Mrs. Murphy called DFI. 

Updating and repurposing of treasured heirlooms 

and other furnishings was a theme in the design DFI 

produced for Mrs. Murphy. Reupholstered comfy 

reclining chairs are now favorites for kicking back and 

relaxing. Her mother’s sewing machine doubles as 

a console in the living room, and the carved antique 

chest with a marble top sitting below wall art from 

an artist made it a natural fit in the entryway. The 

grandfather clock in the dining room not only chimes 

to announce the dinner hour, it takes Mrs. Murphy 

back back in time. Dark dining chairs have been 

replaced with light upholstered pieces that are not 

only more comfortable, but also make the space feel 

bigger. Confident in their relationship and knowing 

Mrs. Murphy, Dee selected a clean-lined white carved 

front Italian buffet with a repurposed gold carved mirror 

for the dining room. It was initially a stretch for Mrs. 

Murphy, aesthetically speaking. But, now the space is 

a house favorite. Mrs. Murphy also loves the soft white 

linen window treatments with cool blue banding and 

functioning white plantation shutters that 

add brightness yet give her much-desired 

privacy.

Keeping kids at home and entertained doesn’t have to involve major 

plans or contrived themes. Some of the biggest shifts in designing for 

kids, tweens, and teens have to do with creating decors that make them

When taking on the challenge of reconfiguring the 

Marley's master suite into a restful refuge, Dee and her 

team knew the room was architecturally challenged. It 

was clear that they would have to say hasta la vista to the 

triple-sided, poorly angled fireplace and multiple ceiling 

angles! The new large-scale porcelain corner fireplace 

provides warmth and a soothing focal point. Eliminating 

the stark white moulding and the deep teal colored 

walls allowed Frazier to transform the architecture of the 

entire room. Now, the homeowner's eyes can gaze upon 

a tray ceiling with backlit moulding. Adding motorized 

shades has allowed Mrs. Marley to enjoy the back garden 

without feeling imprisoned in her own home. The oldschool 

slat blinds were obstructing the beautiful view. 

They were replaced with new high-tech silhouette shades 

that hide behind the drapery valance until the Marleys 

touch a button to raise or lower them at the command of 

her voice.

T o gain a larger footprint for the master bathroom, Dee moved 

one of the walls three feet into the bedroom. Even though the 

bathroom gained three feet, it is still small by Texas master 

bathroom standards. Dee addressed this by incorporating light 

wall tones and using cohesive, natural-looking surfacing material 

on the tile, counters, and floors to create the illusion of more 

space. Installed features such as the mirrored barn door and full 

custom-framed mirrors also serve to produce a spacious, spa-like 

feel. The function of the updated space was equally important, 

so Dee added a full bench running from the interior of the shower 

to the back of the tub wall. This gives the bathroom a sense of 

consistency and also provides an area for bathing accouterments 

like soaps and shampoos. The interiors of the cabinetry are as as 

thoughtfully designed as the rest of the bathroom. Mrs. Marley's 

dressing table drawers have organizational pull-outs for her 

makeup, hairdryer, and hot tools.
