We are a small, friendly college based in beautiful buildings in Saltaire Village, offering great full-time and part-time courses, apprenticeships and traineeships.

Media BTEC Level 1

Course length: 1 year | Code: 4273

Entry requirements

• 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above in both English

& maths.

• We will do an assessment to find out which

course level is right for you.

• A positive attitude and a keen interest in media.

• You will also come to an introductory ‘taster’

session before the course starts, to see if it is the

right course for you.

About the course

Try out different areas such as digital photography,

digital graphics & photo-manipulation, 2D animation,

as well as TV and video production. You may also go

on trips to the National Science & Media Museum

to see creative media in action and listen to talks

from professionals. You also gain personal & social

development skills to help you with your studies and

finding a job. You can also gain important Functional

Skills qualifications in maths, English and ICT. As part

of the Foundation Learning offer, this course gives

you an introduction to lots of other subject options

as well as Media.

Your future

After completing your course, you can move on to

the Creative Digital Media Production Level 2 course,

or other Level 2 qualifications such as Business,

Computing or Art. You may also move on to an


Creative Digital Media

Production BTEC Level 2

Course length: 1 year | Code: 4283

Entry requirements

• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths

must be at grade 2 (E) or above.


A full Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3

(D) or above in English.

• You will have an interview and further assessment

to check the course is right for you.

• In addition, you will need to have a positive

attitude and a keen interest in creative media


• You will be invited to a ‘taster’ session to find out

more about the course.

About the course

If you are creative, interested in film, games,

television and music, this course is for you. You will

develop the skills needed to succeed in this fastpaced

and dynamic industry through a combination

of research and practical projects. You gain skills

including animation, videography, and graphic

production using industry standard software. You

will create posters & videos and use social media to

promote events in the local area. You may also go on

trips to the National Science & Media Museum to see

creative media in action.

Your future

On successful completion of the course, you could

progress to a Creative Digital Media Level 3 course,

or other Level 3 courses such as Art & Design,

Business or Computing. You could also use the skills

and experience you have gained to find employment

in the Media industry.
