English & Maths

Additional qualifications to support your full-time study

Additional maths and English qualifications can be added on to your existing College qualifications

to develop further skills to progress your academic or professional future. These courses can add

valuable UCAS points to support your application for university.

AS English Language

Course length: 2 years | Level 3

Core Maths

Course length: 2 years | Level 3

Entry requirements

• A GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language

and an interest in developing your English

Language skills.

• To be enrolled on a full-time Level 3 course at

Shipley College.

About the course

Gain a deeper understanding of how to communicate

and develop expression with this nationally

recognised AS Level course. Studying both fiction

and poetry, you will develop your creative writing

& critical thinking skills. You will also have the

opportunity to be creative in word, print, paint or

music when exploring a set theme.

You will earn additional UCAS points to help with a

university application.

Your future

Studying English at AS Level can improve career

choices and increase your earning prospects, as

the skills learnt are increasingly important in the

workplace and in Higher Education. An AS Level

qualification is worth up to 20 valuable UCAS points.

interest in applying maths skills to problem

solving.

• To be enrolled on a full-time Level 3 course at

Shipley College.

About the course

This course is perfect if you want to continue

developing valuable maths skills whilst studying a

full-time vocational course. Many roles in today’s

workplace require high levels of maths-based

problem-solving skills and budget management. Core

Maths is a useful tool to equip you with these skills. It

is a two year course and is assessed by a final exam.

Your future

Studying maths at Level 3 can improve career

workplace and in Higher Education. You gain a Level

3 qualification equivalent to an AS Level and up to

20 valuable UCAS points. Employers and universities
