Horticulture
Horticulture & Landscape Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship
Course length: 2 years | Code: 7120
Entry requirements
• An apprenticeship vacancy in your chosen area.
• You must pass an initial assessment in English & maths
or
Have recently gained GCSE grades 4 (C) or above in English & maths.
• You will have an interview.
About the course
This apprenticeship prepares you for various roles in
horticulture, including maintaining landscapes, parks
and public gardens. Depending on your employer,
your apprenticeship may specialise in one of the
following areas:
HORTICULTURE: You will learn to plan, develop
and maintain landscaping areas including gardens,
parks and other green spaces. You will be learning
to cultivate soils, controlling plant pests, identifying
plants and learning the principles of their growth
& development. You will also be taught how to use
machinery and ways to reduce waste.
LANDSCAPING: You will learn about the construction
of hard landscaping areas such as fencing, walls,
paving and paths. You will also learn to survey and
mark out sites, as well as maintaining areas including
fences, walls and water features.
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will need
to pass an End Point Assessment which involves
the completion of a portfolio of evidence, a series
of practical assessment tests and a professional
discussion.
Your future
After completing a Level 2 Apprenticeship, you may
be able to progress on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship or
full-time study at college. Alternatively, you can use
the skills and experience you have gained to progress
further in your career.
