Yankah, Jonas Ekow (DPhil)
Jonas Ekow Yankah is currently a senior lecturer in the Building Technology Department
at Cape Coast Technical University, Ghana. He holds a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in
Building Technology, and a Master’s degree in Construction Management from the
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He is a member of the
Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana. His doctoral studies focused on the
marketing performance and human factor influences of construction contacting
enterprises, in the construction industry. The candidate has published four peer-reviewed
book chapters, nine papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and one journal
manuscript currently under review, based on his doctoral thesis.
In his study, the candidate developed an integrated construction marketing framework to
address the lack of frameworks for construction marketing, and to improve the marketing
performance of construction contracting enterprises. The Delphi technique and structural
equation modelling using the equations software were used in the analysis of the
research data. The study revealed that construction contracting enterprises could improve
their marketing performance and achieve successful outcomes through the integrated
variables of strategic planning, such as environmental analysis, marketing planning,
marketing activities, implementation of activities and their evaluation, which are
complemented by human factors, such as acceptance and behaviour. The contribution to
knowledge for the study is found in the methodological, theoretical and practical thinking
that has the potential to improve the marketing performance of construction contracting
enterprises and to stimulate business survival, growth and profitability in the Ghanaian
construction industry.
