ANNUAL MEETING & ELECTIONS
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2019, 7 PM
Central Bridge Pavilion
When you receive your proxy in the mail, please complete it. If you
attend the meeting it will be exchanged for a ballot or you can leave it
to establish quorum. If you are not attending the meeting, please sign
the proxy and return it to Preferred Management so a quorum can be
established. It must be in the Preferred Management office by 5 PM on
Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
You can mail it to: Kay Serventi
Preferred Management Services
P.O. Box 690269, Houston, TX 77269
Fax it to: 281-897-8838
Scan and email a pdf copy to: info@preferredmgt.com
If you would like to be a candidate for a position on the Board of Directors
please see the following. The deadline to add your name to the ballot
has passed. However, you can be nominated by someone at the meeting.
Your name would then be added to the ballot.
Each year the President of the United States pardons a turkey before
Thanksgiving at a White House ceremony. The tradition’s origin is
uncertain. One story claims that Harry Truman pardoned a turkey in
1947, but the Truman Library has been unable to find any evidence
for this. Others claim that the tradition dates back to Abraham Lincoln
pardoning his son Tad’s pet turkey.
Remember the men and women fighting for our freedom in locations
near and far. They are there defending our right of thanksgiving.
HOLIDAY DECORATIONS JUDGES
Would you like to judge the holiday decorations this year? Usually we
ask everyone to be sure to turn their lights on the 2 nd or 3 rd weekend of
December. The date will be determined by the judges and posted on line
and on the marquees. If you are interested, please contact Preferred
Management Services at 281-897-8808.
BE CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING
Watch for children waiting for school buses in the early mornings and
while returning home in the afternoon. Passing a stopped school bus
with red flashing warning lights can result in a very expensive ticket.
HOLIDAY TRASH PICKUP
There will be no trash pickup on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019. It will
be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day, Monday, December 2 nd .
THANKSGIVING
Parades, football and turkey. These are the things many of us count on for
Thanksgiving Day. In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated
on the fourth Thursday in November.
Thanksgiving was celebrated throughout the colonies after fall harvests.
However, all thirteen colonies did not celebrate Thanksgiving at the
same time until October 1777. In 1789 George Washington declared the
day a holiday. Sarah J. Hale, a poet, had begun lobbying for a national
Thanksgiving holiday. During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln,
looking for ways to unite the nation, discussed the subject with Hale.
He gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1863 and declared the
last Thursday in November a day of thanksgiving. In 1941, President
Roosevelt signed a bill making the fourth Thursday the official holiday.
CONCORD BRIDGE PETS
Have you lost a pet or found a dog or cat? You can contact the Concord
Bridge Pet Hotline at 281-468-9414 and on the Facebook account, www.
facebook.com/#!/Concordbridgehotline.
You can use this source to report lost and found animals. This has been
a great help in returning lost and found animals to their owners. Even
if you don’t have access to Facebook, you can call 281-468-9414. It is
far more efficient than posting illegal signs all over the neighborhood.
Another great source for finding a lost pet or reporting a rescued one is
nextdoor.com/concordbridge.
Harris County requires that all pets be on a leash or confined within your
yard. Unleashed dogs are a nuisance to your neighbors and other pets.
Please pick up all dog waste and dispose of it properly. Remember, our
children play in the park areas and their yards. It’s very inconsiderate of you
to allow your dog to defecate if others yards and the parks. When walking
your dogs, please be prepared to remove any waste they may leave behind.
HARRIS COUNTY CONSTABLES OFFICE PRECINCT 5 - PATROL STATS
These numbers are based on a report of calls made by the Horsepen Bayou MUD contract officers. This covers a large portion of Concord Bridge,
Eldridge Park, McKindrie Park and various business areas within the Horsepen Bayou MUD district. Our contract program is successful with the
cooperation of residents and officers. If you have information regarding illegal or suspicious activities, contact the dispatcher or flag down one of our
patrolling officers. Dispatch # 281-463-6666.

BEAT THE HOLIDAY WEIGHT
Mashed potatoes, homemade apple pie, stuffing, hot dinner rolls with
melted butter, creamed corn, green bean casserole, salad with all the
fixins’ and of course the main dish - the BIRD. All of this equals at least
2,000+ calories. What is a holiday food enthusiast to do? Yes, you CAN
avoid the holiday weight gain! Here’s how:
• Drink H2O before you eat: chances are, you are thirsty before any and
every meal; drink a full glass of water to quench your thirst first, then
notice you will feel fuller.
• Rainbow plate: make sure your plate has color - fresh/not creamed
items, broiled or grilled vegetables, protein, carbohydrate and again,
water.
• On the side: those side dishes - mashed potatoes, casseroles, stuffing,
dressing, etc. are SIDES not main dishes; make sure to keep these
portions small.
• NO to salad dressing: hooray there is a salad! BUT - that tasty dressing
(ranch, thousand island, French, Russian, balsamic vinaigrette, etc.) will
reverse the purpose of the ruffage; instead, make your own dressing at
home and bring it with you or simply ask for olive oil, salt & pepper and
maybe a hint of lemon.
• Walk it off: finished eating? Go for a WALK; football can wait (yes, even
the college games), because your body deserves better.
WHAT TO DO BEFORE, DURING,
AFTER THANKSGIVING DINNER
The most wonderful time of year also means less time for you! Keep your
focus on YOU before, during and after holiday eating:
1) BEFORE: during the day, drink plenty of water, eat hydrating fruits -
melons, apples, take a long walk, eat a whole-grain breakfast
2) DURING: continue to hydrate, make sure your plate has MORE
vegetables, avoid white grains and choose whole grains, gravy on the
side, fresh baked potatoes vs. mashed, WATER!
3) AFTER: continue to hydrate, stay active, go for a walk, have a small
piece of dessert - key is small!

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA -
COPPERHEAD DISTRICT
For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found
in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant
in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting
helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership
skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities
that allow them to:
• Try new things. • Provide service to others.
• Build self-confidence. • Reinforce ethical standards.
Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as
individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility
and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made,
peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made.
Scouting provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting
through the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which
help our youth Be Prepared. Your area is serviced by the BSA Sam
Houston Area Counsel - Copperhead District which includes 23 Cub Scout
Packs (boys 5 to 10 years old), 13 Troops (boys from 11 to 18 years old)
and 10 Venturing units (boys and girls from 14 to 21). Our Units typically
meet weekly.
Many of our units are supported by the local Elementary Schools
including: Birkes, Copeland, Duryea, Fiest, Hemmingway, Holmsley,
Horne, Jowell, Lowery, Metcalf, Owens, Postma, Robinson, Sheridan,
Tipps, Walker and Wilson.
Other Community groups include: Autumn Creek Baptist Church,
Beck and Masten Automotive, Cornerstone United Methodist Church,
Copperfield Church, Crossbridge Church, Cy-Fair Kiwanis Club, Deerfield
Village HOA, LDS Bear Creek and Copperfield Wards, Middlegate Village

BOY SCOUT TROOP 609
Boy Scout Troop 609 is a specialized for Boys with high functioning
Autism Spectrum Disorders. They meet at the Westview School on the 1 st
and 3 rd Saturday of the month from 9:30-11:30 AM.
BOY SCOUT TROOP 838
Troop 838 is a small pack located near Hwy 6 and West Road at the
Crossbridges Church. We are between the Copperfield and Aberdeen
neighborhoods. Being a smaller troop allows us to be flexible and address
the needs of our scouts more nimbly. We currently have boys from ages 11
to 17 within our group working to make Eagle. We try to camp monthly,
with a wide variety of locations on our agenda. The different locations are
chosen by the senior boys to more directly meet our training needs and
to keep expenses low. In fact, we have some of the lowest expenses in the
area. Our adult leaders are all experienced with years of scouting under
their belt per individual. We also work closely with several local packs of
cub scouts and participate in civic duties around the area as well. Please
contact us at TROOP838CYPRESS.ORG or 414-331-3321.
TROOP 1865
Troop 1865 runs a diverse program of outdoor and service activities,
with events selected by the scouts themselves. We meet Mondays at 6:30
PM, at the Copperfield HOA building on Willow River and Hwy 6, behind
Labay. We’ve gone backpacking through the National Forest, rappelling
off Enchanted Rock, Survival camping, boating, canoeing and anything
else the scouts can dream up. We do high-adventure camping at
Philmont and Seabase. Our advancement program has enabled scout to
achieve the coveted rank of Eagle Scout at 10 times the national average
rate. We see scouting as a practice run on adult life. Scouts learn about
leadership and teamwork through having to work together in the field.
We learn about responsibility through fund-raising activities that have
allowed the entire troop to pay for their own summer camp each year.
CUB SCOUT PACK 2
We are an active year round pack for Kindergarten-5 th grade that focuses on life
skills, teamwork, leadership and FUN! Cub Scout activities include camping,
fishing, pinewood derby, hiking and much more! During the school year we meet

done during meetings and activities. Scouting activities include camping,
fishing, archery, rifle/shotgun shooting, hiking, first aid, wilderness survival,
community service, citizenship, swimming, leadership, white-water rafting
and much more. Troop 61 camps each month and has a group that goes to
High Adventure Camp and to Merit Badge Camps each summer. Meet 7 to
8 PM every Wednesday in the Activity Room at Peace Community Church.
