Landscape of the Green Lizard
When the green lizard passes by
hedges dress themselves in forest
and unroll to him in front of
carpets of burned stubble
They all turn themselves
when the green lizard passes by
on the coach of the serpent
spreading red semaphores
The wind sitting on the walls
fascinates the branches
and their notions dribble Newton
hurrying on crutches
The little children chase each other
behind the clickless lizard
and they wait for him
on the hammock in the night
the terminus of the equation
where the sun doesn’t know how to be a star
because he doesn’t know the night
or the moon how to be a goddess
because she doesn’t know the lizard
The green lizard that passes by
on the coach of the serpent
spreading red semaphores
