Saint Stephen’s College – a place of fellowship and learning
Saint Stephen’s College Headmaster, Jamie Dorrington, wants
students to leave school each day with a smile on their face and
their brain hurting a bit because it’s been exercised.
“It is always a great pleasure to walk through our grounds and chat
to our students. I love seeing their smiling faces and hearing their
stories about their activities in and out of school. So many of them
are involved in a range of activities that were never offered to me as
a student, and they have developed skills that are the envy of many
adults,” said Dr Dorrington.
“To quote a line from our College Hymn, we want our school to ‘be
a place of fellowship and learning’. The fellowship is important in
its own right, but it also forms the foundation for learning. As I have
often said, I want students to leave the campus at the end of the
day with a smile on their face, and their brain hurting a bit because
it has been exercised.”
He says he has seen a remarkable transformation in the approach to
teaching and learning, campus facilities and student opportunities
since his appointment in 2003.
“Adaptive learning and collaboration are key to preparing students.
Examples include our adaptive maths program. We’re stretching our
students without making learning perplexing. They love it,” he said.

interdisciplinary projects. Team Projects provides the skills to work

to local traffic problems, creating

market, and bringing refugee
children into school to play sport.

create state-of-the-art collaborative
