MARGIE CAMPBELL

HEALING GARDEN

PHYLLIS

WINGATE

A DECADE

OF SERVICE

The NorthEast Foundation would like to thank

Phyllis Wingate, Northern Division President,

President of Atrium Health Cabarrus and friend

of the NorthEast Foundation for her dedication

to our hospital, Foundation and community over

the past 10 years. Phyllis is retiring at the end of

the year, but not without leaving Atrium Health

Cabarrus with an amazing legacy of innovative

programs and projects created under her

leadership to improve patient care and give our

teammates the tools, training and support they

need to be exceptional healthcare providers.

The NorthEast Foundation is pleased to

announce the naming of the Margie Campbell

Healing Garden outside of the new Heart and

Vascular Tower at Atrium Health Cabarrus. We

are excited to be able to name this beautiful

space in memory of our dear friend and

colleague. Margie joined our board in 2011, and

was a vital part of our success.

The Garden will be a beautiful space of respite

and tranquility for all. It will have a pergola and

benches where patients, family members and

teammates can sit and enjoy beautiful flowers

and a sculpture. In celebration of the dedication

of the Margie Campbell Healing Garden we are

raising $150,000 for Cardiac Services and Cancer

Services at Atrium Health Cabarrus. To make a

gift today visit www.givenortheastfoundation.

FIGHT LIKE A GIRL

TOURNAMENT RAISES

$15,000 TO HELP “STRIKE

OUT” BREAST CANCER

The 2019 Fight Like A Girl softball tournament in October

exceeded everyone’s expectations! A big THANK YOU to

Top Gun Sports for organizing such an amazing PINK OUT

softball tournament. All proceeds from the tournament

benefit the Breast Health Center at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

The tournament raised $15,000 in just two short days this

year and has now gifted over $50,000 to our Breast Health

Center since 2011. Way to go girls!

YEAR-END GIVING

There is still time to make a tax-deductible

gift to NorthEast Foundation before 2020!

There are many options when it comes to

your year-end giving. NorthEast Foundation

and Atrium Health Cabarrus (AHC) are using

small and large gifts to change lives in our

community. Just ask Christi Deerfield who

received the fastest stroke treatment in

the history of our hospital, including a clotbusting

shot and thrombectomy. She left

AHC with no residual effects from a stroke!

Thanks to your gifts,

the Foundation was

able to fund one

of the first of its

kind telemedicine &

telestroke programs

changing the outcome

of her life.

CONTINUING TO IMPROVE

CARE IN OUR EDs

The three Emergency Departments (ED)

affiliated with Atrium Health Cabarrus

continue to see a tremendous number

of patients on an annual basis. Recently,

our ED reached out to the Foundation

to fund equipment to improve care and

efficiencies to our trauma patients including

blanket and fluid warmers in each of the four

trauma rooms. Currently staff must leave the room to

obtain these items during a trauma resuscitation. Having

this equipment readily available saves time potentially

improving outcomes. In addition, the Foundation will be

funding i-STAT Wireless devices. These are advanced,

portable and easy-to-use handheld blood analyzers that

can also transmit test results to a patient’s medical record

wirelessly. The i-STAT System provides our clinicians in the

ED the information they need to rapidly make treatment

decisions, leading to enhanced quality of care.
