GRAYSON LAKES HOLIDAY EVENTS 2019
This year’s annual lighted boat parade will follow the Grayson Lakes’
holiday celebration at the Recreation Center on Sunday, December
8 th . The annual Holiday Home Decorating contest also has been
planned. Traditionally, the holiday family and boat events are held on
the first Sunday in December, but because Thanksgiving is late this
year, organizers opted to move the celebration to the second Sunday.
Activities will be held from 3-6 PM on Sunday, December 8 th in and
around the Recreation Center. Festivities will include refreshments,
bouncy slide, crafts, cookie decorating and photos with Santa (bring your
camera). Afterwards, stay and enjoy the bright lights and decorations of
our 13 th annual holiday boat parade. If you would like to help with the
family event or need more information, please contact the organizers at
events@graysonlakesliving.com.

Boats will gather at 5:45 PM in the Lake Grayson Cove and begin parading
shortly afterwards. The boats will line up briefly at the Recreation Center/
swimming pool dock area at about 6 PM before motoring around the lake.
Typically, it takes the boats about an hour to circle the entire lake and
all its coves. If the weather necessitates a rain date, the boat parade will
be rescheduled for Sunday, December 15 th . Any pontoon boat owners -
including the owners of sailboats with motors - wishing to participate in
the parade should contact Pam Alloway-Mueller at tompam1@aol.com.
Residents can view the parade from a variety of spots - from the
Recreation Center/swimming pool dock area; back yards facing the lake,
the tennis court area and the Lake Grayson Drive dock. Homeowners
whose back yards face the lake are encouraged to decorate their fences
and back yards. This year the neighborhood again will hold a Holiday
Home Decorating contest. There is not a monetary award, but winners
will get a yard sign congratulating their efforts. There will be winners
selected for both back yard (lakeside) and front yard decorations.
If you are interested in participating, please have your decorations up by
Thursday, December. 12 th . Winners will be announced afterwards on
the Grayson Lakes website www.graysonlakesliving.com. These events
mark unique and attractive aspects of our neighborhood. We hope to see
you there and that you participate!!
NEW LANDSCAPE COMPANY FOR GRAYSON LAKES
The Board has met and made the decision to separate from Texscape Landscape
Services. Our new partner is Monarch Landscape Management. They were
selected because of their great reputation and ability to help improve the look
of the community. We look forward to working with Monarch and having them
deliver an improved service for our community. There are three significant areas
of our landscaping; Maintenance, Beautification & Irrigation. Monarch will do
an amazing job with maintenance, their reputation backs that. Beautification
& Irrigation will need community investment to improve. We are a community
with aging infrastructure and that includes landscaping. Seasonal color for the
entrances to our community and clubhouse are included in Monarch’s contract.
Beautification beyond that; like Cul-De-Sacs, replacing plants, additional
color or more seasonal changes, redoing beds, etc will need to be funded as
additional projects. Irrigation is another area that has been aging and may need
additional investments. We will continue to work with our partners to deliver
the best service for our community at the best possible price.
ASSESSMENT DUES FOR 2020
The Grayson Lakes assessment dues will be $1,200 for 2020. Crest
Management will be mailing invoices to every owner within the next
month and payment must be received by January 31, 2020 in order to
avoid late fees. Crest Management offers online account management
and payment through their website at www.Crest-Management.com.
Payments may be made in full or in a 3-month installment beginning
November 2019. The association Board continues to aggressively deal
with repairing and replacing aging infrastructure such as irrigation
systems, enhancing amenities such as the clubhouse and tennis
courts and now focusing on the landscaping and beautification of our
neighborhood. In addition to updating and upgrading, the Board is

looking toward the future by continuing to add funds to the Reserve
Account for significant capital expenditures such as perimeter fences.

GRAYSON LAKES BOARD MEETINGS OPEN TO ALL
Meetings of the Grayson Lakes Board of Directors are held the third
Wednesday of every month except September. The meetings are held
in the Grayson Lakes Clubhouse and start at 6:30 PM. Residents wishing
to observe need only show up. Residents wishing to speak are asked to
inform the Management Company at Karen.Janczak@crest-management.
com requesting to be placed on the agenda. Please do this no later than 8
days before the meeting since agendas are prepared a week in advance.
If you will indicate the nature of your business beforehand, it will give the
Management Company and your Board a chance to prepare for questions
that might come up. Please be advised, it is your Board’s practice to limit
initial comments from residents to 5 minutes, so plan accordingly.
NOTTINGHAM COUNTRY GARDEN CLUB (NCGC)
Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month from
September through May. We welcome all people interested in gardening
and gardening related topics. We serve the West Houston and Katy areas.
You do not have to live in the Nottingham Country neighborhood to belong
to our group! NCGC is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Houston
Federation of Garden Clubs, the Texas State Garden Clubs and the National
Garden Clubs. The purpose of the club is to promote the beautification of our
community, support local and national educational and civic organizations
and educate the community about our environment. Donations from the
NCGC are funded by our​ ​annual​ ​Spring​ ​Sale​ ​and​ ​projects​ ​that​ ​vary​ ​each​ ​
year. Meet and greet time begins at 9:30 AM and the program will begin
at 10 AM, followed by the NCGC business meeting. Please join us at the

11 th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off - Saturday, December 7, 2019, 10

to the public and free for spectators. Competing teams will create their
masterpieces using 100% edible materials. More than 4,000 spectators
are expected to attend and cheer on the teams, play in the kids’
construction zone and see Santa! All of that entertainment is free and

3 rd Annual Jingle All The 5K, 10K, 1K- December 7, 2019, 8:30-10:30

your holiday festivities and outpace that mischievous abominable
snowmonster with the whole family and benefiting Memorial Assistance
Ministries. The Kids 1K kicks off the event at the Addicks Park and Ride

57 th Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade - December 14, 2019, 6 PM,
Kemah Boardwalk, 215 Kipp Avenue. Admission: free. Ring in the holidays
with this Clear Lake tradition. The parade features more than 60 brightly
decorated power and sailboats that will traverse the Clear Lake channel
from the South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon to
Galveston Bay.
Campfire Christmas: Family Tours - Saturday, December 14 and 21,
2019, 6 PM, George Ranch Historical Park, 10215 FM 762 Rd, Richmond,
TX. Journey back in time to experience Christmas celebrations of the
1830s through the 1930s! Join us for a family-friendly holiday evening
tour that culminates with cowboy songs, stories and hot cocoa around
the campfire. Unlike previous Campfire Christmas events, this year’s
format will feature holiday tours at each of the main historic sites. And
don’t forget everyone’s favorite stop: join the George Ranch cowboys and
cowgirls for songs, stories and hot cocoa around a roaring fire! A tram will

Prestonwood Forest Drive and SH 249. Drive through Prestonwood Forest

weekdays till 10 PM and weekends till 11 PM. Folks are encouraged to

2 eggs
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup instant oatmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt

INGREDIENTS:
1 (.25 ounce) package unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup rum
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 pinch white sugar
1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked or graham cracker pie crust
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
DIRECTIONS: In a small bowl, combine gelatin and cold water; set
aside to soften. Combine milk and 1/2 cup sugar in a small glass bowl.
Microwave for 3 minutes or until milk begins to boil. In a steady stream,
pour hot milk into beaten eggs, whisking constantly. Cook custard in the
microwave, whisking after each minute, until it thickens slightly, about
2 minutes. Stir in softened gelatin and mix until melted. Stir in rum. Let
filling cool to room temperature. (If you refrigerate it, stir occasionally to
prevent gelatin from setting too soon.) In a medium bowl, whip cream
until soft peaks form; beat in 1/4 cup sugar. Set aside 1/2 cup of whipped
cream for garnish; keep refrigerated. Fold remaining whipped cream
into eggnog mixture. Pour filling into pie crust and refrigerate 4 hours
or overnight. Garnish with reserved whipped cream and a dusting of

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease 12
muffin cups. Whisk eggs, brown sugar, vegetable oil and milk together
in a bowl until smooth. Stir flour, oatmeal, baking powder, baking soda
and salt into wet ingredients to form a batter. Fill the prepared muffin
cups with batter.Bake in preheated oven until tops are golden brown
and an inserted toothpick comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Source:
