Many of you might not know about his
previous life and happenings, he created
this whole lifestyle on his own which makes
him a quite extraordinary artist. Lanez
dropped out of school in 10th grade, and
started performing songs at outdoor
concerts.
born as Daystar Peterson, but most of you
will know him as Tory Lanez. A self taught
Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and
record producer. He trained himself on
how to create the best beats that make
him unique and definite, compared to
other artists.
Lanez was raised in Miami, Florida, where
he got to practice and refine his rapping
skills throughout his childhood, along with
his voice and beats, his mellow and lyricism
has served him to achieve one of his best
works.
As most of you probably already know he
has released a series of Chixtape albums.
Which certainly received a lot of
recognition in the hip hop and rap
industry. Lanez’s music has always had
some type of inspirational melody moving
along in his tracks, from any old
school\rap artists he aspires and adores,
especially any hip hop hits of the 2000’s.
Chixtape 5, which he recently just
released on the 15th of November,
is certainly inclined to drag back all
the 2000’s incredibles. Well
compared to the previous tracks he
released, this album has got a
different twist to it, previously he
used to remix his favourite tracks
which already caught our
attention. This time he went a step
further and engaged in recreating
some of the original songs,
featuring the artists, which surely
gives it a diverse energy to it. Artists
like Trey songz, snoop dog, Lil
Wayne and Ashanti featuring on
this distinctive adventure. These
are all significant artists that
brought some expressive change to
the music industry.

As you can already sense this album is
going to tear you into a vortex of
nostalgia. It seems almost impossible for
someone to create such a distinctive yet
recognisable album. People have been
wondering how he got all these features
on his track, it seems quite unattainable,
yet it isn’t for Tory, the singer is so
ambitious in his work that he wouldn’t let
any convenience stop him .
The singer and rapper comments on the
rap industry and defines is as a horrible
place. He goes on and talks about how
there is always auto tuned included, which
surely is a hip thing in this industry now a
days. It gives it a quite malicious effect. But
he is trying to create his beats and tunes in
exceptional ways, which obviously makes
him stand out from the rest.

He wants to transmit something
real, something that is less
mainstream but still catches
peoples attention. It certainly is not
something easy to achieve, but it
seems like Lanez is getting the
reaction he excepted and surely
deserved.

He emotionally puts in words how
passionate he has been working and
wanting to succeed in his aim and
progression “ I have never been this hard
on the production of any albums…really
hope y’all enjoy what I have had the honour
of enjoying what I have had the honour of
enjoying for the last 8 months”.
Now talking about how his work has
changed and progressed during his
progression route is another proposition.
His previous tracks have surely been a
catch and successful. Lanez has always had
a different way of expressing his emotions
and putting those feelings and settings in
songs, not only his contention but also his
way of applying his knowledge in his work
and adopting unique beats
In an Interview with all hip hop he
describes his aim and what he has been
trying to transmit : I had to do something
that my fans couldn’t believe until they saw
it and heard it for themselves. People have
loved the Chixtape series for so long and
its never been available on DSPs, not only
did we go back and clear all the samples,
but we got the original artists that we love
so much to get back on these records with
me.
The albums significance and
importance has already increased by
only its features, none of his previous
songs had as many and as important
features on it which surely attracts a
lot of people. We wanted to know why
he choose certain features, since there
are a lot of symbolic hip hop singers or
rappers, surely we can assume that it
might be more of a personal
connection he has towards these
certain artists or songs.
He clarifies how he just went off his
favourite records, what meant
something to him whilst growing up,
something to the culture around him
when he was younger. As the singer
explains, people from his place have
similar attractions and viewpoints. He
surely identifies himself a lot with
people from the island and also people
from international countries.
Inevitably a lot of those people might
identify or find themselves in his music
as well, which is a nice thing to observe
for Lanez.
Chixtape 5 is surely a exceptional and
compelling album he put together.
There is surely something for everyone
in it, even if you might have been less
attracted to the hip hop world, this
album might or probably will change
your mind.
