BUILD A BIRD FEEDER WORKSHOP | Saturday, January 11 | 10AM–12PM

Join us for this family friendly workshop to learn about our local birds and take home a bird feeder that you build yourself. A bird

feeder is an easy way to support your local songbirds by providing food through the winter months, while providing your family with

bird watching opportunities. Who will visit your feeder? Learn about local birds and birdseed options to help your home become part

of a healthy habitat. We provide the tools, materials and guidance to help you complete your project. Fee is $35 per bird feeder.

Register by December 28 to ensure your spot.

FAMILY FIRESIDE NIGHT | Friday, January 24 | 6:30PM–8PM

Join us for an evening exploring the native winter animals of northeast Ohio’s past and present. Bundle up as we take to the outdoors and

search for animals in their winter habitats. The discovery continues indoors as we unearth prehistoric creatures through hands-on crafts

and activities. Fun for the whole family! Hot chocolate and snacks will be provided. $6 per person, or $30 family max up to 6.

WRITING ABOUT NATURE | Saturday, February 1 | 10AM–1PM

Poet and nonfiction writer Lee Chilcote will be your guide as you explore poetry and personal essays with a focus on nature and the

environment. Analyze selections from nature writers who make a connection between their lives and the environment, complete a

and abilities. $30 per person.

ART ON VIEW: “BIRD PORTRAITS” BY STEVE CAGAN

Artist’s Reception: Thursday, January 23, 5:30PM–7:30PM

Show Runs from January 17–March 31, 2020

Although birds exhibit no facial expressions, we have a way of attributing states of mind and characteristics to them:

they are wise, angry, ferocious, comical. Steve’s black-and-white images are attempts at portraits. They are not nature pictures

in the usual sense, nor intended to help with field identification—there are other photographers doing great work in that area.

Rather, Steve hopes his photographs will help the viewer relate in a personal and aesthetic way to his subjects. Free.
