A PLEA FROM A CONCERNED HOMEOWNER

It appears that a beautiful Male Mallard Duck got caught in some

irresponsible persons fishing lines that wrapped around his legs and

feet and now he could die from this because he can lose both legs. The

duck also has the hook in his body along with the lines wrapped around

his legs and feet. OR either some very cruel person did this on purpose

as it looks like it truly could have been cruelty.

Nevertheless, can you ask that people that are fishing in our lake to

NEVER DISCARD THEIR FISHING LINE OR HOOKS BACK

INTO OUR LAKE BECAUSE IT IS A VERY CRUEL THING TO DO

AS THIS IS THE RESULT OF THEIR THOUGHTLESSNESS? We

found this poor duck laying on the bank of the lake starving to death

and unable to walk. We took him to the Wildlife Center of Texas, 7007

Old Katy Rd. Houston, TX 77024, phone # 713-861-9453. Only time

will tell if this innocent little creature will make it or not as he has a very

bad infection from all of this right now. It will take time to tell if he will

lose his legs or not and of course he will not make it if so.

We think that this warning should also be extended by the parents of

young males also.

Thank you, A Resident

HOW DO WE LOOK?

Curb appeal has a big impact on your property value, even if your home

is not for sale. Buyers evaluate the neighborhood, not just one house.

Stand back from your house and take a close look to see if it needs a

mini-makeover. Think about security as well. Has your shrubbery become

overgrown covering windows or blocking the sidewalk? Do low-hanging

limbs obscure the front? Does the lawn have brown areas or weeds? Is the

siding mildewed or paint peeling? You may want to ask a friend’s opinion,

it is easy to overlook things we see every day. Make plans now to spruce

up and avoid future notification letters from our property manager.

SAFETY CORNER

Please ensure that you always take the following steps to protect your

property:

• Lock all entrances to your residence and vehicles, including windows

and doors leading to the garage.

• Park your vehicles in your garage if you can.

• Secure all valuables, including guns, laptops and tablets. If items can’t

be secured, ensure that the items are at least hidden from view, both

from windows and doors in your residence and in your vehicles.

4

January 2020 | Grayson Lakes

• Record the serial number and take pictures if possible, of all valuables.

• Set your alarm, even if you are in the house and don’t intend to leave

for a while.

• Report any suspicious activity to the Ft. Bend County Sheriff’s Office

non-emergency line at 281-341-4665.

GRAYSON LAKES BOARD MEETINGS OPEN TO ALL

inform the Management Company at Karen@crest-management.com

requesting to be placed on the agenda. Please do this no later than 8

days before the meeting since agendas are prepared a week in advance.

If you will indicate the nature of your business beforehand, it will give the

Management Company and your Board a chance to prepare for questions

that might come up. Please be advised, it is your Board’s practice to limit

initial comments from residents to 5 minutes, so plan accordingly.

our environment. Donations from the NCGC are funded by ourannual

Spring Sale and projects that vary each year.

Meet and greet time begins at 9:30 AM and the program will begin at

10 AM, followed by the NCGC business meeting. Please join us at the

LOCAL DEVELOPER PLEDGES 3-YEAR CONTRIBUTION TO KATY ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Cane Island, home to many parents, grandparents and increasing numbers of Katy ISD students, has joined the corps of Keystone Investors contributing

to the Katy ISD Education Foundation and its Inspiring Imagination teacher grant program. The Foundation’s Investor program allows the community,

both individuals and business leaders like Cane Island, to provide a sound financial platform for Foundation initiatives by committing to three years

or more of support.

Cane Island President Dan Naef joined the Katy ISD Education Foundation for 2019-2020 Inspiring Imagination teacher grant announcements. “It was

one of the most special experiences I’ve had in Katy,” Naef said, “To be present and witness the joy in a teacher’s eyes when they win a grant and to hear

the excitement in their voice, it’s priceless.” Cane Island doesn’t just build homes, it builds community. Naef said, “Nothing says community like taking

care of our children and taking care of the educators who pour into our children.”

The Katy ISD Education Foundation has awarded $1.6 million in its first seven years of Inspiring Imagination teacher grants, impacting students in

classrooms all around the district. Funding for the program is provided in part by long-term investors like Cane Island and annual fundraising events

Fireflies & Foodtrucks and GROOVE. To learn more, contact us at 281-396-6031 or visit www.katyisdeducationfoundation.org.

more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy”

Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first

Girl Scout troop and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy,

building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a

better place. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts

of San Jacinto Council, a United Way agency, is one of the largest Girl Scout

councils in the country serving more than 53,000 girl members and 17,000

adults in 26 southeast Texas counties. We’re the preeminent leadership

development organization for girls and we offer every girl a chance to

practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure and success. To volunteer,
