SPRING ART
COURSES AT ST
JAMES’ TRUST
Our art courses at St James’ Trust have
been very successful with numbers
steadily increasing year on year.
My aim is to give my groups the techniques they need
to move forwards confi dently with their artwork and
have fun in the process in an inclusive environment.
Beginners are always welcomed into the fold and it
has been wonderful to see people develop at their
own pace.
From 1st February I will be running two courses:
Watercolour: Painting People and Animals, and Acrylic:
Painting the South Downs National Park. These are
very different mediums, each with their own merits and
challenges!

Spring art courses with qualified Sussex Artist

10am-12pm: Watercolour (12 Weeks)
- Painting People and Animals (Course fee: £120) -
Those who enrol will need to bring pencils, a board, tape,
watercolour paper, brushes, paints, palette and a jar for water.
*Collect and bring some pictures/photos to work on
1-3pm: Acrylic Painting (12 Weeks)
- Painting South Downs National Park (Course fee: £120) -
Those who enrol will need to buy some grey board and/or canvas,
acrylic paints, paper plates (for mixing) and brushes.
This course will include some Art History to give students an added
understanding of different approaches and styles over the centuries.

The sessions are held at St James’ Trust, which
continues to be the perfect base and a wonderful
community centre, which is recognised for the work
it does for local residents. The Trust also has a spacious
charity shop, which is well worth a visit!
As well as the courses I run, I also like to draw your
attention to www.creativity4wellbeing.com, which is
a free art activity resource I created in 2015 for our
global community. The feedback I am getting from locals
is very positive and it’s great to see that people are
really enjoying this and benefi tting from it. If you’ve not
put pencil to paper since leaving school, have a look, or,
even better, come to one of our courses!
If there are any local groups or charities that would
like me to come and give a talk on what I do and the
‘creativity4wellbeing’ website, then feel free to get in
touch. I also give half day and full day art workshops.
Remember, activities like art, creative writing, music
appreciation, yoga and Mindfulness can make a real
difference to our wellbeing, so why not give one of
these a go?
LESLEY HARVEY WORKSHOPS
Join me having fun drawing
and painting for two hours, all
materials provided.
My workshops are on the last Saturday of
each month, 9.30am - 11.30am in ‘Paradise
Park’, Newhaven, £12 per session, and in ‘Be
Creative’ craft shop, Seaford, every Thursday
from 10am to 12 noon, £15 per session.
Refreshments are provided at Be Creative.
I am also available for children’s parties,
cartoon drawing and face painting, £5 p/child.
