Captains Report Gold Cup I had great fun in my 4 ball with Darren Millington (who can play a pretty good game), Graeme Wood and Connor Ivins, a young 18 year old that only took up the game a year ago and plays off 7. Connor quickly learnt that a golf ball is never referred to as just a ball, there are a string of words ahead of it. The Gary Player Knockout Trophy and Plate finals were postponed by unanimous decision by the players to be played over 18 holes later, all parties agreed that this was a fairer result than one contrived by formulas. Congratulations to all our trophy winners for the year. See the results elsewhere in the magazine. Special mention to Piet Botha, our Golfer of the year, great comeback after almost 3 years away due to ill health. Our Andrew Mentis day was played at Kempton Park on the 24 th November and was a great success. Well done to VC Stephen Malherbe and his committee. It does pain me to see the field for this prestigious fundraiser shrinking each year and I implore <strong>Nomads</strong> to bring friends/family to support this day. Please come forward with suggestions as to how we can improve and increase the participation. The ever popular Mystery tour took place on the 30 th November and after a chase around eastern Pretoria, which included breakfast at Cullinan Golf club we eventually arrived at Bankenveld on the shores of Witbank dam. In complete contrast to our GC game this was played in searing heat. Well done to Rob Gordon on organising another wonderful tour. A big up in that no player had to pay for any drink or food during the entire trip as all costs were covered in the entry fee. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
