to captivate all of his players’ attention
and make those hard lessons really sink
in. One practice in particular, he started
calling me AB instead of Andrea. (He
said Andrea took too long to say when
he needed my attention.) It’s a nickname
that has stuck with me for over 25 years.
The day I signed my letter of intent to
play college sports, I knew exactly who
I wanted to invite. He made such a huge

For her part, Velda has no plans to retire.
“I enjoy real estate and the relationships
with my clients too much. We are both
blessed with good health, and so for
