They willlearn how to identify and evaluate a prospective businessopportunity, understand various business legal structures,small business budgeting, record keeping methods, staffing,marketing and promotion. Instruction will include anintroduction to the elements of a business plan includingmarketing and technology.CCRENTREPRENEURSHIP II2 SemestersThis second course in the Entrepreneurship pathwaybroadens the student’s knowledge and understanding andincreases their skills in the areas of entrepreneurship andbusiness operations. Students will use their skills to identifya business opportunity and develop Business, Marketingand Technology Plans, incorporating the areas of businesslegal structures, small business budgeting, record keepingmethods, staffing, marketing and promotion. Additionally,training will include selecting a business location andmonitoring growth and results.CCRVIRTUAL ENTERPRISE (UC)2 SemestersThis course is a simulated business that is set up and runby students to prepare them for working in a real businessenvironment. The students determine the nature of theirbusiness, its products and services, its management andstructure, and learn the daily operations of a business. Theyuse current business software and the Internet for businesstransactions. The focus is on business operations, basiceconomic principles, communications, and computationand employability skills. This course meets the UC “g”requirement.PRQ, UC/CSUMARKETING PATHWAYMARKETING I2 SemestersStudents will understand how a new product or serviceconcept is successfully developed and brought to marketthrough research, brand integration and product promotion.Using real-life examples, students will explore concepts ininternational, direct response, and e-marketing. Additionally,they will be introduced to specialty marketing segmentssuch as: sports, travel/tourism, and hospitality.MARKETING AND SOCIETY (UC)2 SemestersThis course will give students a fundamental understandingof the relationship between marketing and popular culture.Marketing techniques, the elements of persuasion, and theeffect on societal behavior will be studied. Particular focuswill be given to the marketing strategies employed and thepositive/negative effects of those strategies. Examplesof topics included are marketing to children, minorities,and green, political and charitable marketing. Complexethical issues in marketing and marketing’s contributionto stereotypes, representation of gender, materialism, andover-consumption will be studied. Students will also reflectand respond to the creation and expansion of markets viaglobal marketing techniques, their positive and negativeimpacts on society, and corporate social responsibility.PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIPMARKETING2 SemestersThis practicum and internship course allows thestudents to apply academic and career readiness skillsin a workplace environment. Instruction will combinestandards-based classroom instruction with extended onsiteindustry experience. Students will learn all aspectsof Professionalism, and apply 21st Century Skills ofCommunication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativityand Problem Solving in a real world setting.
