MACH 2020XYZ MACHINE TOOLS UNVEILS TURNING CENTRESStand No: 130 Hall 18XYZ Machine Tools will use MACH 2020 toreveal the latest additions to its CompactTurn turning centre range, the XYZ CT65HDand the XYZ CT52LR. The XYZ CT65HDreplaces the existing Compact Turn CT65and comes with enhanced turning capacitywith maximum turned length more thandouble its predecessor at 535 mm, with atotal z-axis travel of 550 mm. Anotheraddition is the increased coolant deliverypressure, which now runs at 30 l/min at 2.5bar. The HD designation relates to the CT65HD’s construction, which remains as asolid Meehanite ribbed casting with x and yaxes positioned along hardened and groundbox slideways by means of ballscrews thathave been increased in size to 28 mm and 40mm respectively, with 20 m/min feedrates.The spindle remains as a 23hp/18kW with amaximum speed of 4500 revs/min and the 12position 30VDI turret remains as standardalong with the MT4 tailstock with 90 mm oftravel.The arrival of the XYZ CT52LR mirrorsthe development of XYZ Machine Tools’machining centre range, with theintroduction of linear rail technology to itsturning centres for the first time. Providing a300 mm maximum turned length and 52 mmbar capacity the XYZ CT52LR provides userswith the perfect entry into turning centreownership and when combined with amachining centre from XYZ’s LR rangedelivers a highly price competitive packagefor any subcontractor that is unsure of whatwork will come in from week-to-week.Other key specifications of the CT52LRinclude its 15 hp/11.2 kW spindle capable ofrunning at 4500 revs/min, 300 mmmaximum swing, 180 mm maximum turneddiameter and axis travels in x and z of 165and 315 mm respectively with a 10 positionblock-type turret providing plenty ofmachining options. “The arrival of theCT52LR is down to the success of the LRseries of machining centres, which have beenextremely well received by customers andhave opened up new opportunities thanks tothe cost advantage while retaining excellentmachining capability,” says Nigel Atherton,Managing Director XYZ Machine Tools.nigel.atherton@xyzmachinetools.comwww.xyzmachinetools.comMETALCUTTING TECHNOLOGY FOR ANEW DECADE Stand No: 110 Hall 6Hurco's location at MACH 2020 will be thesame as two years ago, stand 110 in hall 6, butwill be even larger at nearly 300 square metres.The exhibition will mark the launch of twoproduct ranges.There will be an integrated robot loadingsolution from Hurco’s new automationdivision, ProCobots. Four standard products ofdifferent sizes constitute the range, all equallywell suited to feeding machining centres orlathes.To be shown for the first time ever will bethe company's new range of lathes with driventooling, which will be represented by theTM8Mi model.Hurco is increasingly seen as a major 5-axismachining centre supplier, with customersreplacing 3- and 4-axis machines with thesehigher-end products. Some not only have extraCNC axes but also enhanced specification interms of higher feed rates and spindle speed,plus linear scales rather than rotary encoders inX, Y and Z and torque motors rather thanstandard drives in the rotary B and C axes.The company will be showing examples ofall 5-axis machining centre configurations in itsportfolio. The flagship VMX42SRTi, withtorque motor-driven B-axis swivel head and C-axis rotary table, flush with the fixed horizontaltable, offers the most flexible productionpossibilities within a relatively compactfootprint.The more traditional cantilever table designof the VC500i is ideal for one-offs and morecomplex applications, while the VMX30Ui is amore economical solution incorporating aswivelling trunnion with 250 mm diameterrotary table.The range will be completed by the additionof a Kitagawa TT150 table to a 3-axis HurcoVM20i.
