two four­wheel­drive tours<br />

thismonth, organised by the<br />

Amuri andHawarden­<br />

WaikariLions Clubs.<br />

The station, on the<br />

outskirtsofHanmerSprings,<br />

offersspectacular high<br />

country views, and features<br />

adrive along the Hanmer<br />

River,overthe Hossack<br />

saddle and down the<br />

HossackRivertothe edge of<br />

Molesworth Station.<br />

Drives will runontwo<br />

consecutive Sundays,<strong>March</strong><br />

22 and<strong>March</strong>29, with a<br />

maximum of 60 vehicles for<br />

eachtour.<br />

The clubs’ fundraising<br />

project is suitable for<br />

vehicles withoff­roadtyres<br />

and whichhavereasonable<br />

ground clearance. They<br />

mustalsoberegistered and<br />

haveacurrent warrantof<br />

fitness<br />

No dogsare allowed.<br />

Eachdrive starts from the<br />

HossackStationWoolshed<br />

at 9.30am, withparticipants<br />

required to register via<br />

and smilesat<strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> Pride’s<br />

annual picnic last<br />

Sunday.<br />

The event was<br />

organised by the <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> Pride(NCP)<br />

committee to promote<br />

diversity and inclusion,<br />

and reducestigma.<br />

NCP consistsofasmall<br />

groupoflesbian, gay and<br />

transgender people who<br />

got together early in 2018<br />

in response to a<br />

suggestion by amember<br />

that aLGBTIQ event be<br />

organised in Rangiora to<br />

coincide with<br />

Christchurch Prideweek.<br />

‘‘While Christchurch<br />

Pride events attract<br />

peoplefrom Rangiora<br />

and other areas in <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong>,the<br />

committeefelt there was<br />

aneed for aLGBTIQ+<br />

event in our district,’’<br />

said member Paul Finch.<br />

There was arelaxed,<br />

friendly vibe at the picnic<br />

on Sunday helped by<br />

OliverHeperi’s live<br />

music.<br />
