Middle Ages
A long lost Boccaccio, in large format, from
the great era of Burgundian bibliophilia: a
very fine codex in almost pristine condition
with known provenance of the aristocratic
recipients. The miniatures in this imposing
codex are notable for their large scale, with
spacious, colourful, and contemporary
settings for distant events described in the
texts. Many of the images present a striking
originality inspired by the stories they
accompany.
Capodimonte and begins to frequent the
studio of Gemito, who portrays her in
numerous drawings. Until now, there are
no other known busts in terracotta. Our
sculpture is similar to the “Veiled Maiden”
and “Moorish Boy “ executed in the same
year by the twenty-year old artist.
