I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OFTHIS HOUSE!

…a word from our President!
Well here we are at the beginning of May and
nothing has changed. Mary Lou said I will not
have a ponytail, so she is looking for some
sharp scissors. You will see that we are posting
the Board minutes in place of the meeting
minutes this month and we plan to do that so
you can see what is going on with the club. I
am not sure when we will have a meeting
again. It was so great to see 24 cars show up
for Dave’s birthday parade. When Lori called
me, we had 24 hours to get this organized.
The home Dave is in did a great job of getting
everything at the home ready for us. I hope
you had a chance to see the video on channel
47. For me this really shows me what kind of
a club we are.
One good thing has happened as a result of
the lock down. I will have to put gas in the
corvette for the first time since the lock
down. I wouldn’t have to do that, but we
went a 180-mile ride with a few friends while
staying in our cars. I think when we hit Step 3
in California, we can have a meeting some
place where we can social distance. Think
positive and I will be glad when we can go to
church rather that watch it on the internet.
God Bless you all and I know I will see you all
very soon.
Here's How The Chevrolet Corvette's Dashboard
Has Changed Over The Years
Nestled into the jet-like cockpits of Chevy Corvettes are these industry-leading dashboards.
ARTICLE BY CHRIS FLYNN - APR 29, 2020 – TheThings.com
The original dashboard was a barrier made of wood or leather fixed to the
front of a horse-pulled carriage. It was meant to protect the driver from mud
and other debris that could be thrown up by the horse's hooved feet. But
with horses being replaced with machines, the dashboard gradually
became more important as there was a greater need to protect the driver
from dangerous exposure to the engine. These needs later
metamorphosed into installing critical features in a position where the driver
could interact with them easily. Tools were introduced such as
the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gearshift position indicator,
engine coolant temperature gauge, SRS airbag systems, and glove
compartment among others. Nestled into the jet-like cockpits of Chevy
Corvettes are these industry-leading dashboards. Here’s a look at the
history of the Chevy Corvette’s dashboard and how it's changed over the
years.

1953 Corvette C1
The 1953 Chevy Corvette C1 is the first generation of the Corvette Sports
Car commonly referred to as the “solid-axle” and sold only 300 units. If you
are a fan of bright colored vehicles that cheer up your mood, then you’ll love
this car.
Its dashboard gauges are kept at the center of the car, making it difficult to
use during driving, along with a steering wheel containing another halfwheel
inside, which is good?

1967 Corvette 427 L88
The Corvette 427 L88 is the last model of the second generation (C2) of the
Chevrolet Corvette that’s made with a big-block hood bulge that was
designed as a scoop. It was designed with a dazzling dashboard that, unlike
the Corvette C1, is arranged just behind the steering.
The downside, though, is the fact that the steering wheel still lacks flesh so
it's not very cozy for long-distance travel.

1979 Corvette L82
The Chevy Corvette L82 is among the third generation (C3) of Corvette
models. The very successful unit is the best selling of all the generations of
Corvettes because of its incredible design.
Its design doesn’t fail in its interior as the dashboard is built to be a bit slant
while the color is a fine mixture of complementing combos. Its gauge
are arranged nicely too.

1984 Corvette (C4) L83 350
The successful 1984 hatchback Corvette C4 is the first installation of the
fourth generation Chevrolet model. The dashboard of the 1984 Corvette
L83 was completely fitted with digital instrumentations that state figures of
the dash’s readings. The wheels of the steering is completely padded with
no metal parts shown.
It’s imperative we point out that it's used a lot of squares for its design
compared to any other of the Corvettes.

1990 Corvette ZR-1
The 1990 Corvette ZR-1 is a rear-wheel-drive sports car that was made by
Chevrolet as part of their fourth generation (C4) model. This unique version
saw the introduction of an interior redesigned and airbag on the steering
and also other critical points.
The C4 ZR-1 made its dashboard features concentrate exclusively on the
driver. Still maintaining the digital display of the previous generation, this
vehicle gives the feeling of piloting a plane.

1997 Corvette LS1
The 1997 C5 LS1 is the first of the fifth generation of Corvettes and is the
most changed Corvette since the model was first introduced in 1953. The
hatchback C5 LS1 coupe was stiffer and lighter than previous models and
its dashboard was excellently designed with digital instrumentation.
The steering wheel was better designed and it featured a better ventilatory
system. It was a bold improvement to the design of the model.

2005 Corvette C6 Z06
The sixth generation began with the 2005 Corvette C6 Z06 and is the
lightest of all Corvette models ever made. The model saw the reintroduction
of the fixed headlamps that were removed since its 1962 model year and a
more modern approach to the console board.
The digital gauge was replaced by a modern analog gauge and a
touchscreen was introduced to the dashboard. Its simplicity was a bundle
of beauty.

2006 Corvette Z06
The 2006 Corvette Z06 was among the sixth generation of Chevy models
and was built with a sleek composite body mounted on a separate frame
that utilizes a lot of carbon fiber.
The interior of the 2006 C6 Z06 saw a finely furnished interior that upgraded
the formal features of the older 2005 Corvette but introduced no new design
or features of its own.

2008 Corvette LS3
The 2008 Corvette is also of the C6 generation of the Chevy model that’s
quicker than most of the other automatic Corvettes. The 2008 Corvette LS3
saw the introduction of a new 4LT leather-wrap interior package.
The brand new colored dashboard is the redeeming feature of the LS3, as
there was no extra feature that it could boast of.

2010 Corvette GS Coupe
The Grand Sport of the Corvette made its return as it replaced the Z51 trim
of the Corvette. The 2010 Corvette was a breakthrough into the supercar
category as it was incredibly fast and could accelerate 0-60 mph in 4.1
seconds with its manual gear.
The 2010 Chevy maintained most of its previous functions as it made its
great stride in speed.

2012 Corvette Z06
The 2012 Z06 is another Corvette supercar that even surpasses the speed
of its predecessor by achieving the 60 mph mark in just 3.9 seconds and
the same time delivers a good fuel economy.
The interior made less cluster of gauges and delivered decently arranged
dashboards. Though acquiring the Corvette is no cheap endeavor, the 2012
Corvette was the worst-performing of its generation with barely 12,000 units
sold.

2014 Corvette Stingray LT1 Coupe
The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT is the beginning model of the seventh
generation that featured an all-new styling, chassis, and drivetrain.
The 2014 Stingray dashboard audaciously redefined the meaning of drivercontrolled
vehicles as it has completely segmented the driving area from
the rest of the car, thus giving the driver complete autonomy of his car.

2017 Corvette C7 Grand Sport
The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Z06 is a wide body super race car. It's with
the 2017 C7 that Chevy finally mastered the fine art of producing a supercar
with an equally super dashboard, as it gives the driver the feeling of being
a pilot of a speed forced vehicle.
The dashboard of the Stingray looks superb when touched with other
colors; it feels more like you’re in a game simulation and not driving.

2019 Corvette C7 ZR1
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is the last entry of the seventh generation of the
Chevrolet Corvette and is so far the quickest of all the Corvette generations
with a 60 mph time of 2.5 seconds.
The dashboard of the 2019 Corvette ZR1 is the same as that of the 2017
model with few minor changes made to the digital guage of the supercar.

2020 Corvette C8
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a mid-engine speed demon and the first of
the eighth generations of the Chevy Corvette model. Its super aerodynamic
design is only rivaled by its next-generation interior that remains unseen in
any car before its time.
Without a doubt, the 2020 C8 takes it to a whole new level.
New Corvette ZORA Could Be A 1,000 HP Hybrid
Article By Joel Patel, Automotive Editor - April 27, 2020
Moving the engine to the middle of the Chevrolet C8 Corvette opens up
a lot of possibilities for the automaker. Thanks to a massive
leak, Hagerty found a General Motors document that obtained a bunch
of upcoming Corvette trims that are worth getting excited about.
The internal document reveals that four new Corvette models are in the
works: Z06, Grand Sport, ZR1, and ZORA. Other Corvettes have had
Z06, Grand Sport, and ZR1 models, but the ZORA nameplate is special
for a few reasons. Before we get to that, here are the juicy bits on the
other models first.
The Corvette Z06 will come out for the 2022 model year with a 5.5-liter
dual-overhead cam (DOHC) V8 engine. Chevy borrowed the engine from
the Corvette C8.R and will reportedly be tuned to produce 600
horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The engine in the racecar
also has a flat-plane crankshaft, which, if it makes its way to the C8 Z06,
should give it a more exotic sound than the muscle-car note we’re used
to.
The Z06 will be followed by the Corvette Grand Sport for the 2023 model
year, which will use the same LT2 6.2-liter V8 found in the regular C8
Corvette. Unlike the regular powertrain, the version in the Grand Sport

will feature a hybrid powertrain for 600 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque –
increases of 110 hp and 35 lb-ft of torque. Neither the outlet nor the
document discusses the specifics of the powertrain, how many electric
motors it will come with, or whether it will have all-wheel drive.
For the 2024 model year, Chevy will roll out the Corvette ZR1. What has
usually been the top dog in the Corvette family, the upcoming C8
Corvette ZR1 will reportedly come with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter
DOHC V8 engine. Power will be at an immense 850 hp and 825 lb-ft of
torque, making the 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque found in the C7
Corvette ZR1 look pedestrian.
If you’re looking for the new king of the Corvette hill, you’ll have to wait
until the 2025 model year, because that’s when the ZORA comes out. It
will combine the twin-turbo unit from the C8 ZR1 with a hybrid powertrain
for a combined output of 1,000 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque.
If the document holds true, Chevrolet is using the C8 Corvette for a lot of
firsts. The latest generation of the sports car will see the first time the
Corvette features a turbocharged engine and a hybrid powertrain. While
Chevy is certainly looking into the future with the C8 Corvette and its
advanced powertrains that are in the pipeline, the automaker is also
looking to the past for some inspiration.
Zora Arkus-Duntov is known for being the father of the Corvette. He was
the sports car’s first chief engineer and was also the first individual to
picture the Corvette as a mid-engined vehicle. Without him, the C8
Corvette wouldn’t have been made. To pay homage to Zora Arkus,
Chevrolet will be using the ZORA name on what’s shaping up to be the
most powerful and advanced Corvette to date.
While we’re psyched to see all of the upcoming C8 Corvette models that
Chevrolet has in the works, there’s a good chance that the coronavirus
will delay at least one of these trims. Still, if these numbers are to be
believed, they’re certainly worth the wait.
2020 Vegas Run October 25 th to 30 th
See something else in Vegas besides the big hotels on the strip. Staying at
the Suncoast Hotel in Summerlin next to Tivoli Village (lots of shopping)
the rate is just $32 per night and just under $60 when including resort fees
and taxes. Can't beat five nights for $300.
Depart Fresno Sunday October 25 and return either Thursday Oct 29 or
Friday Oct 30 as Thursday is an open day.
With private tours of the Nevada Test Site temporarily suspended, we will
visit the Atomic Testing Museum, the Mob Museum where I will try and
reserve the recently opened Speakeasy just for us. We will do an evening
tour of the Neon Museum, take a rafting cruise down Black Rock Canyon,
visit an old gold mine near Nelson, take a dinner cruise on Lake Mead on a
paddle wheeler, stop by the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and maybe have a
picnic at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. I am looking into a tour of
Allegiant Stadium home of the Las Vegas Raiders and maybe another
surprise or two.
Please sign the interest sheet put out by Jeff and once we see the level of
interest I will lock in the activities.
Downing Planetarium show at CSUF
Waiting for their Fall schedule to come out. We will probably
see a Saturday afternoon show. The Planetarium has 74 seats
and a 30 foot dome. They have many different shows and
they usually run just under a hour in length. Then we can go
to Campus Pointe for an early dinner if you wish. Hope to
have a date and more information by soon.
Thank you all so very much for making this party a success for Dave.
You all are such a big part of our lives and we both consider you as
family. I was just in awe over the amount of love we have from such
wonderful friends. Dave was crying tears of happiness. We thank
you for decorating your cars so beautiful. We have many pictures of
your cars decorated. I will cherish all my photos and videos that
friends have sent me. Again, from the bottom of my heart Thank you
for being there for us when we needed you the most. We Love you!
