ROYAL ECONOMIC SOCIETY CONFERENCE OF HEADS OF UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS OF ECONOMICS MINUTES OF CHUDE STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING CHUDE Steering Committee Meeting Saturday 4 th March 2006 10.30am for 11.00am Venue: Room D602 Clement House London School of Economics, Houghton Street, London WC2A 2AE (switchboard phone no. – 020 7405 7686). Present: Denise Osborn (Chair); David Blackaby; David Bell; Alan Carruth; Vincent Daly; Neil Rickman; John Sloman; John Sutton; Kevin Reilly; Simon Parker 1. Apologies. 1.1 Received from Andy Henley, Tim Worrall. The meeting warmly welcomed Kevin Reilly as a new member of the Steering Committee. Kevin was the only self nomination from the request that was circulated after the November CHUDE meeting. 2. Minutes of CHUDE Steering Committee Meeting of 8 th October 2005. 2.1 The minutes of the meeting were accepted as an accurate record. 3. Matters arising and not covered elsewhere on the agenda. 3.1 There were no matters arising. 4. Minutes of CHUDE Meeting of 12 th November (for information only). 5. CHUDE Steering Committee Membership 5.1 Denise invited Neil Rickman to leave the meeting for a short period. Denise reported that after consultations and discussion with Neil, it was agreed unanimously that his name be put forward as the Chair designate taking over from Denise on 1 st January 2007. In a similar vein it was agreed unanimously to put forward Tim Worrall’s name as the Secretary of CHUDE from 1 st January 2007. Neil rejoined the meeting and was happy that his and Tim’s names would go forward to the full CHUDE meeting in April. The meeting recorded its thanks to Neil and Tim for taking on the future running of CHUDE. The issue of female membership of the committee was raised again. John Sloman suggested that Nancy Devlin might be interested and the meeting encouraged him to discuss the matter informally with Nancy. Action: John Sloman. CHUDE Steering Committee Meeting 4.03.06
