Nieuwe Vide's Journal of Humanity 09 - Staging The Absurd

Issue 9 of Nieuwe Vide's Journal of Humanity focuses on absurdism. We link this phenomenon with the present day world which takes on absurd forms. This subject matter is linked with our exhbition programme. in 2019 Nieuwe Vide Artspace researched the Theatre of the Absurd (developed after the Second World War, a theatre-genre at the beginning of the 20th century, in which the irrational aspects of life were highlighted. The basis of absurd theatre can be traced back to existentialism, a philosophy that life, and death, is without meaning. The writers in this issue reflected on what absurdism constitutes in their view. The graphic designers created a fitting design, bringing their vision to the subject matter. This zine is a collaboration of Nieuwe Vide and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, Netherlands.
