Trinity School at Greenlawn Annual Appeal 2018-19

STUDENT RESEARCH PROGRAM
In our ninth year of Trinity’s Research Program,
underscored by the generosity and leadership of
alumnus Dr. David Go, the Rooney Family Associate
Professor of Engineering in both Aerospace and
Mechanical Engineering and Chemical and Biomolecular
Engineering at the University of Notre
Dame, and faculty member Lynda Seasly, almost 120
students have spent countless hours after school
delving into cutting edge research. In the past two
years, two students have qualified for the International
Science Fair, and four students qualified for
Indiana State Science Fair where numerous awards
and prizes were received.
Trinity has a current cohort of twenty-two students
participating in various research initiatives with
professors at the University of Notre Dame and
St. Mary’s College. Covering a wide range of topics
from the impact of hope for the terminally ill, to
the connection between the human eye and an
individual’s security risks, to decontamination of
heavy metals in water, and the modeling of malaria
reduction, the research culminates in regional
competitions as well as Trinity’s own research
poster fair.
Summer internships at the University of Notre Dame
in the Quarknet Program, facilitated by faculty
member Dr. Pat Mooney, have given students the
opportunity to further develop research skills in
physics and nanotechnology.
