MORE SUCCESS FOR THE

LANGUAGE MAGICIAN

The Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport

and Culture of the European Commission has

informed THE LANGUAGE MAGICIAN (TLM) team that TLM has been

selected as a “success story” by a panel of experts at the European Commission.

“Success stories” are finalised projects that have distinguished themselves by

their impact, innovative results, creative approach and contribution to policy

making and designed to be a source of inspiration for others.

ALL was a partner in the project launched at Language World 2018.

Colleagues using the game with their pupils are reminded of the additional

resources available from the TLM website - Classroom resources were part of the

original project and new this year are Shared resources.

ALL / LFEE WORKSHOP FOR ALL MEMBERS

To complement our work with the ELAPSE project, ALL is working with LFEE

Europe, to offer a training programme ‘Exploring and Developing CLIL’

in France, Germany and Spain. This one week course, exclusively for ALL

members, aims to:

• Explore strategies for extending learners’ language skills through

Interdisciplinary activities

• Develop new skills for language teaching and transferability across

subject areas

• Explore the CLIL approach

• Develop and consolidate participants’ knowledge of French / Spanish /

German

• Increase participants’ cultural awareness of France / Spain / Germany

• Explore efficient and innovative use of ICT tools

• Join in practical CLIL workshops

• See CLIL in action during a possible school visit (depending on time of year

and availability of our partners.)

Twenty-nine schools, both Primary and Secondary, across England, Northern

Ireland and Wales are partners with ALL in this project. We have applied for

funding for this through ERASMUS+ and if successful, the course (including

travel and subsistence) will be free to participating ALL members. For more

THE POWERLANGUAGE

CHALLENGE

Having worked with teachers and

learners from all over Europe and

beyond over the past 10 years, the

PowerLanguage team is committed

to connected learning - connecting

teaching and learning to young

people’s lives, experiences and passions

as well as the communities they live in.

To this end, we have created the

PowerLanguage Challenge, hoping

to engage youngsters actively and

encourage them to share their interests

with their peers around the world.

We are asking learners to create

short podcasts in order to teach their

language as well as share their culture

and passion, with other young people.

The videos should be produced in 2

languages: their mother tongue and

a language of their choice. These

videos will then be published on

powerlanguage.school/challenge,

where you can also see examples of

videos already created.

Watch this short animation to find out

more, or go to powerlanguage.school/

challenge-submission to send us your

video!
