BUS HOURS OF OPERATION

BFT offers extended service hours until 10 p.m. for most bus

routes and all Dial-A-Ride services:

Monday–Friday: 6 a.m.–10 p.m.

Saturday: 7 a.m.–10 p.m.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

BFT does NOT operate on the following holidays:

Christmas Eve service ends at 7 p.m.

On all other holidays, BFT services will operate on a normal schedule.

All of Ben Franklin Transit’s bus routes are included in our System Guide

book and on our website at bft.org. In addition, Transit, BFT’s official

mobility app, allows riders to track their bus in real-time.

BFT’S NEW, OFFICIAL

TRIP-PLANNING APP

In January 2020, BFT announced Transit as the official mobility app for

the Tri-Cities area. Transit, used in more than 200 cities worldwide, is

now available for BFT riders to track their bus in real-time (available on

iOS and Android). Download Transit today!

1. Use the Transit app for trip planning and real-time information.

2. Call 509.735.5100 and speak with one of our customer service

representatives. Be ready to provide the following information:

BUS STOPS/BUS SIGNS

Bus stop signs are blue, gold, and white and look like

the example shown here. Call Customer Service at

509.735.5100 for the locations of our stops.

TRAVEL TRAINING

This program is designed for seniors, persons of disability,

students, and people who are new to the area. Our travel

guides familiarize riders with how the transit system works

and how to plan trips.

SERVICE ANIMALS

Service animals are welcome. You are responsible for the

care and supervision of your animal while onboard and

may be held liable for the behavior and actions of the animal.

NOTE: Regardless of training or certification, service animals may be denied

transportation if the animal’s behavior poses a direct threat to the health or

safety of others. If you have any questions, please call 509.735.5100.

Route information for the visually impaired is available upon

request.

SNOW AND ICE ALERTS

In severe winter weather with ice and snow on the roadway,

time schedules can be affected and the buses may run late. Visit

bft.org/WinterRiderAlerts or follow us @bftransit on Facebook or

Twitter for the most up-to-date information.

EMERGENCIES

In the event of an emergency, BFT may adjust bus routes. Check our

website at bft.org and social media accounts for updates.

LOST AND FOUND

Lose something while on the bus? Items found on buses are turned into

the Customer Service office. Call 509.735.5100 to verify that your lost

item has been turned in.

NO-SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS

If you need to change your reservation, please call the reservation line for

your service:

• Dial-A-Ride: 509.735.0160

• General Demand Service: 877.646.4287

Cancellation Deadlines:

Dial-A-Ride: Notify us of a cancellation no later than 5 p.m.

the day before the ride scheduled pick-up.

General Demand Service: Cancellation deadline is no later than

one (1) hour prior to scheduled pick-up.

* Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may result in suspension of service.

For Dial-A-Ride customers, repeated failure to cancel service may result in loss

of permanent ride status. If permanent ride status is lost, there is no guarantee

a permanent ride will be available after suspension period is complete.

COVID-19 SAFETY

Help protect one another from COVID-19. Please wear a face covering over your

nose and mouth, stay home if you or someone else in your household is sick,

and maintain a distance of at least six feet from others. Thank you for keeping

BFT RIDER GUIDELINES

BFT’s goal is to provide service that is convenient, comfortable, and safe for all

riders. Riders who fail to follow these rules may be denied service or asked to

disembark.

• Riders should keep feet, legs, and belongings out of other riders’ paths

• Riders should gather belongings and be ready to exit when the vehicle stops

• Do not stand in the stairwells or block the back door

• Use the back door for disembarking whenever possible

• Passengers must allow proper securing of mobility devices and wheelchairs

on all vehicles

• Rider’s hygiene, health and/or behavior must not pose a risk to other riders or

BFT staff

• Shirt and shoes must be worn while on board

• All riders should pay the appropriate fare upon boarding (see fares section)

• Pets must be in pet carriers. All pets must be enclosed in a carrier that will

remain secured. Pet and carrier may not exceed 25 pounds

• Children age 5 years or under will not be transported without an

accompanying caregiver over 12 years of age. (Child seats are not provided

but are strongly recommended)

• Keep children seated while on any BFT vehicle. Passengers can board the

bus with a child in a stroller and then immediately remove the child from the

stroller upon boarding. Accompanying adult is responsible for belting in car

seats and children

• No more than four carry-on bags are allowed on any vehicle and shall weigh

no more than 10 lbs. each. They must be stored at the rider’s feet or in their lap

• Rider must be able to board with their carry-on items; on buses keep aisle

clear, exit, and move their own belongings

• Allow passengers to disembark before you board the bus

• Elderly and disabled riders have priority over the front seats. Please move

when needed

• Riders must move to make room for the securing of mobility devices

and wheelchairs.

Unauthorized Activities:

• Drug and alcohol use on BFT vehicles, pick-up points or property

• Harassment or intimidation of customers, the public, or BFT personnel at

pick-up points, transit centers, bus stops, or BFT property or vehicles

• Eating food on vehicles (beverages with lids are allowed)

• Vandalism of any BFT vehicle, shelter, bus stop, sign or other BFT property

• Smoking or the appearance of smoking (including e-cigarettes) within 25 feet of a

BFT vehicle or facility

• Any type of radio or noise making device without a headset

• Operating any of the coach controls.

Prohibited Items on BFT Vehicles:

• Full or empty containers of flammable or hazardous chemicals, such as

gasoline cans or cans of Mace

• Vehicle batteries

• Carrying, exhibiting, displaying, or drawing any firearm, dagger, sword, knife

or other cutting or stabbing instrument, club, or any other weapon apparently

capable of producing bodily harm, in a manner, under circumstances, and at

a time and place that either manifests an intent to intimidate another or that

warrants alarm for the safety of other Persons, unless otherwise authorized by

law (RCW 9.41.270)

• Open alcoholic containers

• Illegal drugs

• Non-collapsible strollers, shopping carts, and bicycles or large items that

cannot fit between seats and any article longer than the distance from the

floor to the ceiling.

Bicycles on BFT Vehicles

• Bicyclists are responsible for securing and carefully moving their bicycles on

and off BFT buses and at BFT facilities to ensure their safety and the safety of

other passengers

• Bicyclists are responsible for any personal injuries or loss as a result of their

negligence on BFT vehicles or at BFT facilities

• BFT transports only single-seat, two-wheeled, non-fueled bicycles on

its vehicles

• Always walk your bicycle on BFT passenger platforms at transit centers

• Never step out in front of a moving bus as it approaches the bus zone

• Always load your bicycle from the curb side of the bus

• Alert the driver by making voice and eye contact before loading your bicycle

on the outside rack

• When you are ready to leave the bus and claim your bicycle, notify the driver

you'll be retrieving your bicycle and disembark using the front door of the

bus

• Park bicycles at BFT transit centers and park-and-ride lots only in designated

bicycle racks or lockers

• Folding bicycles are allowed inside any BFT vehicle at any time as long as

they can be safely secured

• Storing bicycles in the priority seating areas marked for elderly and disabled

riders on any vehicle is prohibited

• Bicyclists are responsible for properly securing any personal belongings

mounted on the bicycle and any items cannot obstruct the vision of

the driver.

fare collection is temporarily suspended.

When boarding the bus, you may pay your fare with cash (exact change),

a ticket, or a valid pass. Tickets and monthly passes may be purchased

from one of the ticket outlets listed on page 12.

Note: Only regular bus fares offer transfers between routes (not

General Demand service).

Use your BFT fare media to pay for a portion of your ride. Show the

CONNECT driver your transfer or other BFT fare media upon boarding

the vehicle.

Dial-A-Ride is a specialized door-to door transportation service for people

whose disabilities limit their ability to use the fixed-route bus system.

To be eligible, you must complete a written application and meet the

eligibility requirements. Applications are available at BFT's Three Rivers

Transit Center office or online at bft.org; to request an application,

call 509.735.0160, then press 3. All Dial-A-Ride vehicles are equipped

with a lift to accommodate the boarding of disabled individuals using

wheelchairs or ambulatory riders unable to use the stairs. Premium fares

may apply depending on service or location.

Dial-A-Ride Hours

Hours of operation are the same as the regular bus service hours (see p. 4).

Scheduling Service

Call to schedule your trip up to seven days in advance. Reservations can

be made from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday and

Sunday, reservationists are available 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to book rides

for Monday only.

VANPOOL 509.943.5442

BFT’s Vanpool program is an excellent transportation alternative for

those with long commutes. Riders in BFT’s vans share the cost of fuel,

maintenance, and insurance through a monthly fare. Vanpools not

only save money, but our Vanpools provide a comfortable, relaxed ride.

Vanpool drivers are fellow commuters, responsible for collecting the

monthly fee and fueling the vehicle.

Our new on-demand service is a convenient way for you to get to

the BFT bus network, and temporarily reach essential services during

COVID-19, in a BFT CONNECT van. We will connect you to designated

Transit Connections within six service zones: Central Kennewick & Finley,

Central Richland, Columbia Center & South Richland, East Pasco,

West Pasco and West Richland/Badger Mountain.

BFT CONNECT Hours (as of June 8, 2020)

Monday–Friday: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

BFT CONNECT hours will eventually be the same as regular bus service

hours (see p. 4).

Requesting Service

You can use the Via App or call 509.204.4189 to request rides. For more

information, visit bft.org/ConnectOnDemand, or call Customer Service

GENERAL DEMAND SERVICE

877.646.4287 (toll-free)

General Demand service is demand responsive – you must request

service to receive service. Phone reservations required at least one

day or up to seven days in advance.

You will be scheduled for pickup at a designated time and you

must be at the stop at that time. The BFT vehicle may arrive up to

20 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time to accommodate

multiple nearby customer pickups; please allow for this flexibility if

you have an appointment.

BFT offers General Demand services in Prosser, Benton City,

Finley, and at designated locations throughout the Tri-Cities,

all of which connect you to the BFT bus system.

Scheduling General Demand Service

Phone reservations required at least one day or up to seven days in

advance. Reservations for Monday must be made before 5 p.m. on

the previous Friday. Premium Fares may apply.

SPECIAL EVENT SERVICE

Event routes are offered to special events in town throughout the year.

Event services may be added, changed or discontinued at any time.

Art in the Park (July) CANCELED

Shuttle runs from Fran Rish Stadium to stops near the event on Friday

and Saturday. For those eligible, Dial-A-Ride service is available;

advanced reservations are required.

Boat Races (July) CANCELED/POSTPONED

BFT will provide shuttle service to and from the Columbia Cup

races on Saturday and Sunday morning, and then again 15 minutes

following the last heat of the day. For those eligible, Dial-A-Ride

service is available; advance reservations are required.

Benton-Franklin Fair & Rodeo (August) CANCELED

Buses will depart Transit Centers, and other Park-n-Ride locations to

be announced. Buses will run daily through the Fair & Rodeo from

9 a.m. to Fair closing. For those eligible, Dial-A-Ride service is

available; advance reservations are required.

Cable Bridge Run (December)

A shuttle bus will be provided to transport runners from the 1-mile

finish line to the maintenance shop and then back to the starting line

with the shuttle leaving approximately every 30 minutes.

Demonstration Service (ongoing)

BFT reserves the right to operate demonstration services for up to

one year before these services are considered permanent and subject

to Title VI service equity analysis requirements. Demonstration

services include but are not limited to new demonstration routes,

existing route adjustments, frequency increases and service hour

increases. Please visit bft.org or call Customer Service to learn about

ongoing or planned demonstration services.

En enero de 2020, BFT anunció Transit como la aplicación oficial de movilidad

para el área de Tri-Cities. Transit, utilizado en más de 200 ciudades en todo el

mundo, ahora está disponible para que los usuarios de BFT puedan rastrear su

autobús en tiempo real (disponible en iOS y Android). Descarga Transit hoy!

CÓMO VIAJAR

1. Use la aplicación Transit para planificar el viaje e información

en tiempo real.

2. Comuníquese al 509.735.5100 y hable con uno de nuestros

representantes de Atención al Cliente. Tenga preparada la siguiente

información:

• Lugar donde se encuentra (ciudad, dirección o intersección)

• Lugar a dónde desea viajar

• Cuándo quiere llegar al lugare

CAPACITACIÓN DE VIAJES

Y GUÍAS DE VIAJE

Este programa está diseñado para personas mayores, personas

con discapacidad, estudiantes, y personas que son nuevas en el

área. Nuestros guías de viaje familiarizan a los pasajeros con el funcionamiento

del sistema de tránsito y cómo planificar sus viajes.

ANIMALES DE SERVICIO

Los animales de servicio son bienvenidos. Usted es responsable del cuidado y

la supervisión de su animal de servicio mientras esté a bordo, al igual que por

el comportamiento y las acciones del animal.

NOTA: Independientemente de la capacitación o certificación que presente,

podemos negarnos a transportar a su mascota si su comportamiento representa

una amenaza directa para la salud o seguridad de los demás pasajeros.

La información de la ruta para personas con discapacidades de la visión

está disponible a pedido.

EMERGENCIAS

En caso de emergencia, BFT puede ajustar las rutas de los autobuses. Visite

ALERTA DE HIELO Y NIEVE

Durante el invierno, cuando hay hielo y nieve en el camino, los

horarios pueden verse afectados y los autobuses pueden retrasarse.

OBJETOS PERDIDOS

¿Perdió algún objeto en el autobús? Los objetos encontrados en el autobús

CANCELACIONES Y AUSENCIAS

Si necesita cambiar su reservación, comuníquese con el servicio con el que

Plazos de cancelación:

Dial-A-Ride: Para cancelar un viaje programado, notifícanos antes de las

5 p.m. del día anterior al viaje.

Servicio General de Pedido: Para cancelar un viaje programado, debe

hacerlo por lo menos con una hora de anticipación.

* Ante ausencias o cancelaciones de última hora reiteradas, podemos suspender

el servicio. Los clientes de Dial-A-Ride que en repetidas ocasiones se ausenten

sin previo aviso de cancelación pueden ser sancionados con la pérdida de su

calificación como pasajero permanente. Si perdiera la condición de pasajero

permanente, no podremos garantizarle que en el futuro pueda haber un viaje

permanente disponible una vez haya transcurrido el período de suspensión.

SEGURIDAD DE COVID-19

Ayúdenos a protegerse unos a los otros de COVID-19. Por favor use una

mascara que cubra su nariz y boca, quedarse en su casa si usted o alguien

más en su hogar está enfermo, y mantenga una distancia de al menos seis

LINEAMIENTOS PARA EL PASAJERO

El objetivo de BFT es ofrecer un servicio conveniente, cómodo y seguro a todos

nuestros pasajeros. Si los pasajeros no cumplen con estas normas, se les podrá

negar el viaje o solicitarles que desciendan del vehículo.

• Los pasajeros deben evitar obstaculizar con sus pies, piernas o pertenencias

el paso de otros pasajeros

• Los pasajeros deben recoger sus pertenencias y estar listos para salir cuando

se detiene el vehículo

• No se pare en las escaleras ni bloquee la puerta trasera

• Utilice la puerta trasera para descender cuando sea posible

• Los pasajeros deben mantener los aparatos de movilidad y sillas de ruedas de

manera segura en todos los vehículos

• La higiene, la salud o el comportamiento de los pasajeros no debe suponer

un riesgo para otros pasajeros o empleados de BFT

• Debe tener puesta la camisa y zapatos durante todo el viaje

• Todos los pasajeros deben pagar la tarifa correspondiente al momento de

abordar (consulte la sección Tarifas para obtener más información)

INFORMACIÓN GENERAL

• Los animales domésticos deben acarrearse en portadores para mascotas. Todas las

mascotas se deben mantener dentro del portador, que deberá quedar asegurado.

La mascota y el portador no pueden exceder las 25 lb.

• Los niños de hasta 5 años de edad no podrán viajar sin un acompañante cuidador

mayor de 12 años. (No se proveen asientos para niños, sin embargo, estos asientos

son altamente recomendados)

• Asegúrese de que los niños estén sentados en todo momento dentro de los

vehículos BFT. Los pasajeros pueden abordar el autobús con un niño en el

cochecito y luego retirar inmediatamente al niño del cochecito al abordar. El

adulto que acompaña al niño es responsable de colocar el cinturón de seguridad a

los asientos para vehículos y al niño

• No se permiten más de cuatro bolsas de equipaje de mano en cualquiera de los

vehículos, y cada uno deberá pesar 10 lb como máximo. El equipaje de mano se

debe mantener a los pies del pasajero o en su regazo

• Los pasajeros deben poder ingresar al vehículo con su equipaje en mano; en los

autobuses, el pasillo y la salida deberán permanecer despejados de pertenencias

sueltas sin los pasajeros

• Permita que los pasajeros desciendan antes de subir al autobús

• Los ancianos y pasajeros con discapacidades tienen prioridad en los asientos

delanteros. Por favor desplácese cuando sea necesario

• Los pasajeros deben desplazarse para permitir asegurar aparatos de movilidad y

sillas de ruedas

• Si desea usar una parada preacordada, informe al conductor cuando toque el timbre.

Actividades no autorizadas:

• Consumir drogas o alcohol en vehículos, puntos de ascenso o propiedad de BFT

• Acosar o intimidar a los clientes, el público o el personal de BFT en puntos de ascenso,

centros de transporte público, paradas de autobús, o propiedad y vehículos de BFT

• Consumir alimentos en los vehículos (se permiten bebidas con tapas)

• Cometer actos de vandalismo en cualquier refugio, parada de autobús, señal,

vehículo u otra propiedad de BFT

• Fumar o simular este acto (por ejemplo, vapear cigarrillos electrónicos) dentro de

un radio de 25 ft de un vehículo o instalación de BFT

• Utilizar radios o dispositivos que generen ruido sin auriculares

• Operar cualquiera de los controles del autobús.

Artículos prohibidos en los vehículos de BFT:

• Contenedores de productos químicos inflamables o peligrosos, tales como latas

de gasolina o latas de Mace, ya sea que estén llenos o vacíos

• Baterías de vehículos

• Llevar, exhibir, mostrar o sacar cualquier arma de fuego, daga, espada, cuchillo

u otro instrumento de corte o apuñalamiento, garrote o cualquier otra arma

aparentemente capaz de producir daños corporales, de una manera, bajo

circunstancias y en un momento y lugar que manifiesta una intención de intimidar

a otra persona o garantiza alarma por la seguridad de otras personas, a menos que

la ley lo autorice de otra manera (RCW 9.41.270)

• Contenedores de alcohol abiertos

• Drogas ilegales

• Cochecitos no plegables, carros de compras y bicicletas o artículos grandes

que no caben entre los asientos, y cualquier artículo más largo que la distancia

desde el piso hasta el techo.

Carga de bicicletas en los vehículos de BFT

• Los ciclistas son responsables de asegurar y mover cuidadosamente sus

bicicletas dentro y fuera de los autobuses o instalaciones de BFT para

garantizar su seguridad y la seguridad de otros pasajeros

• Los ciclistas son responsables ante cualquier daño personal o pérdida como

resultado de su negligencia en vehículos o instalaciones de BFT

• BFT transporta en sus vehículos bicicletas de un asiento solamente, de dos

ruedas y que no precisen combustible

• Siempre avance caminando con su bicicleta en los andenes de pasajeros de

BFT en centros de tránsito

• Nunca se pare delante de un autobús en movimiento cuando este se acerca a

la zona de autobuses

• Cargue siempre su bicicleta desde el lado de la acera del autobús

• Alerte al conductor con contacto de voz y visual antes de cargar su bicicleta en

el portaequipaje exterior

• Cuando esté listo para salir del autobús y reclamar su bicicleta, notifique

al conductor que va a recuperar su bicicleta y desembarque por la puerta

delantera del autobús

• Estacione su bicicleta en los centros de tránsito de BFT y en estacionamientos

solo en compartimentos y portabicicletas designados

• Se permiten bicicletas plegables dentro de cualquier vehículo de BFT en

cualquier momento, siempre que se puedan fijar y mantener seguras

• Está prohibido guardar bicicletas en las áreas de prioridad de asiento

designadas a ancianos y pasajeros con discapacidades en cualquier vehículo

• Los ciclistas son responsables de asegurar adecuadamente las pertenencias

personales montadas en la bicicleta y cualquier artículo no puede obstruir la

visión del conductor.

DIAL-A-RIDE 509.735.0160

Dial-A-Ride es un servicio de transporte especializado puerta-a-puerta para las

personas cuyas discapacidades limitan el uso de ruta fija de autobus. Para ser

eligible debe completar una aplicación por escrito y cumplir con los requisitos

de elegibilidad. Las aplicaciones están disponibles en la oficina de BFT's Three

Rivers Transit Center o en línea a bft.org. Para pedir una aplicación llame

al 509. 735-0160 y presione 3. Todos los vehículos de Dial-A-Ride están

equipados con un ascensor para el abordaje de individuos con discapacidades

en sillas de ruedas o pasajeros ambulatorios que no pueden utilizer las

VANPOOL 509.943.5442

El servicio Vanpool de BFT es una alternativa de transporte para trayectos

largos. Los pasajeros que viajan en camionetas de BFT comparten los gastos

de combustible, mantenimiento y seguro a una tarifa mensual. Los viajes

compartidos no solo le ahorran dinero, sino que además nuestras camionetas

le aseguran un viaje cómodo y relajado. Los conductores de los grupos que

viajan en camioneta son compañeros de traslado, y son los responsables de

recoger la cuota mensual y aprovisionar de combustible al vehículo.

Nuestro nuevo servicio a pedido es una forma conveniente de llegar a

la red de autobuses BFT, y llegar temporalmente a servicios esenciales

durante COVID-19, en un vehículo de BFT CONNECT. Lo conectaremos a las

Transit Connections designadas dentro de seis zonas de servicio: Central

Kennewick & Finley, Central Richland, Columbia Center & South

Richland, East Pasco, West Pasco y West Richland/Badger Mountain.

SERVICIO PREMIO

DE DEMANDA GENERAL 877.646.4287

Servicio de Demanda General es una respuesta a la demanda - usted debe de

solicitar el servicio para recibirlo. Reservaciones por teléfono requieren por lo

menos un día o hasta 7 días por adelantado.

Usted será programado para ser recogido a un horario determinado y debe

de estar en la parada a esa hora. El vehículo BFT podría llegar hasta 20

minutos después de la hora designada para recogerlo para acomodar a varios

otros clientes cercanos que necesitan ser recogidos. Por favor sea flexible si

usted tiene una cita.

Servicio Premio de Demanda General está disponible en Finley, Prosser,

Benton City y a lo largo de los Tri-Cities, todos los cuales lo conectan al

sistema de autobuses BFT.

SERVICIO DE EVENTOS

ESPECIALES

Las rutas de servicio de eventos especiales se ofrecen para eventos

especiales en la ciudad durante todo el año. Los servicios de

temporada pueden ser agregados, cambiados o discontinuados en

cualquier momento.

Arte en el Parque (Julio) CANCELADO

El servicio de transporte circula desde le estadio Fran Rish y realiza

su paradas cerca del evento los días viernes y sábado. Para las

personas elegibles, el servicio de Dial-ARide está disponible; se

requieren reservas anticipadas.

Carrera de botes (Julio) CANCELADO/POSPUESTO

BFT proporcionará servicio de transporte desde y hacia las carreras

de la Copa Columbia el sábado y el domingo por la mañana, y luego

nuevamente 15 minutos después del último calor del día. Para las

personas elegibles, el servicio de Dial-A-Ride está disponible; se

requieren reservaciones anticipadas.

Feria y rodeo Benton-Franklin (Agosto) CANCELADO

Los autobuses saldrán de los centros de transporte público y otros

lugares de Park-n-Ride que se anunciarán oportunamente. Los

autobuses circulan diariamente por la feria y rodeo desde las 9 a. m.

hasta el fin de evento. Para las personas elegibles, el servicio de Dial-

A-Ride está disponible; se requieren reservas anticipadas.

Carrera en Cable Bridge (Diciembre)

Se proporcionará un servicio de autobús para el traslado de

los corredores de la línea de llegada de 1 milla al taller de

mantenimiento y luego de regreso a la línea de partida. El servicio de

traslado partirá aproximadamente cada 30 minutos.

Servicio de Demostración (en curso)

BFT se reserva el derecho de operar servicios de demostración hasta

un año antes de que el servicio se considere permanente y están

sujeto a los requisitos de análisis de equidad del servicio del Título

VI. Los servicios de demostración incluyen, pero no son limitados a

nuevas rutas de demostración, ajustes de ruta existentes, aumentos

BUS STOPS
